I It's physics (with the exception of one thing) are what we have to live with.

Bruce

What is the ONE thing? lol

It's a secret, but you should figure it out before the end of this post.

There is one aspect of MCM2's physics that we have the ability to change.  We have experimented with it off and on since we figured it out.  We haven't decided yet on what we want to do about it.

We are currently testing the MCM 2 Package Manager utility (it's not vaporware) which will replace BikeSwitcher.  It allows more things to be changed in MCM 2.

I have one more feature to finish on it and we need to actually create some packages for it.

oooh.  Changing bike weight, if that is it, would make a big difference.  Or maybe pivot points?  I'm excited now. lol

VMX_Slowpoke2

i'm really exited... any idea when it'll be released?

I had hoped to try to wrap it up this weekend, but that hasn't happened.

I was hoping to release it by Christmas.   We could then release packages over the next few months.  The potential is there to create some packages that have the bikes heavier with special powercurves.  With an updated Startgate we would be able to race with people that have the same packages installed.  Or how about tournaments with everyone guaranteed to have the same powercurve and weight.

The thing the worries me is that there is a definite lack of activiity in the MCM 2 community even though there really isn't any other MX/SX game that offers the same ability to create tracks and race online. Even if 10 years from now MCM 2 is the only game that offers that I'll still be playing it.  I would love for the community to become a little more active.

The lack of activity make me wonder how much effort we should put forth in keep coming up with modifications/packages.

For example it would be possible to create a package so that all the bikes were replaced with ATV's, snowmobiles, trucks, buggies, etc.  These packages take time, because you would want some variety in the models and they would all need skins.

The package does sound great far beyond anything we would of all believed possible way back when as has been said the was a lot more activity. and i for one would like to thank you for the continued effort and time everyone has put in.

As for the lack of activity I'm not 100% sure how true that may be. of course there isn't as many playing as there once was but that would be totally ridiculous to exceptthat, but I'mu sure there are a lot and i mean a lot of the older riders who still have this game sitting on there HDD and have a blast round a track when its realeased by a creator that they enjoy ,sure they may not use startgate they may not use the zone or TTM but they are still around.and the reason there round is just as Dirttwister has stated there is no other MX game that has come close to MCM2.

Of course we all hold out hope for a new version at some point but until that day the people here and the people on the zone TTM etc etc are very much diehard fans and any extra addition that would make the game more enjoyable more entertaining more a LEVEL playground can only be a good thing..

Quite recently i was pouring though the website  http://www.archive.org/web/web.php and after a few searches i came across the old XRacingsite with details of the 250cc round robin tourney and it was like a blast from the past reading the race reports etc. i sat there and thought dang that was so much fun back then wish the game was as popular now..So i headed off to the zone to run a  few laps sure it was quite but not dead after a short while im I'm in a race with 8 guys all happy to wait for a few of the newer guys to grab a track they didn't have etc etc,, after some 10 races or so i has to leave but i left with a big smile on my face and thought back to the xracingite and thought maybe there isn't as many of us but dangggg its one heck of a game ...

just in case you do want to have a nostalgia feel .. http://web.archive.org/web/20020808074054/www.xracing.com/roundrobin/roundrobin22.html

Wow that takes me back.  I always wished I was fast enough to race with the fast guys.  I remember working with Kent on X_Kobra's Revenge.  I would watch his ghost's with amazement.

I'd forgotten that they used Slaughter Trails 2 in the tourney.  That must have been a tough tourney track.  It's really 4 dispmaps.  I should remake this in a high def version.

Something that some of you folks have not touched which I have played alot with is...

A heavier bike, more low end power, way less top end, with an entire track loaded with traction maps, with the right track, I truly feel this is a new game!! My goal here with all the great talent we have at Twisted Dirt is to make this for TD Zone and we all have the same bikes (weight/HP/etc)   We would get the word out we would have 50 guys in tournament's (remember the Zech supercross of Pain series?) I do, we have 75 guys racing locked tracks! (locked meaning you couldn't race it til 10 min before the heats) That was some of the best racing MCM has seen since the MCM1 series with Kips Creations supercross tracks for MCM1!!!.

VMX_SKYmx99

So you HAVE changed bike wights Blue?  I may have misunderstood ya.  :-\

ElDiablo (Paul)

We've been changing them here at TD for some time now Alex.  ;)

Blue (Dave) is probably the most vocal advocate of the possibilities here. But we are all very excited about bringing something new to the table. TD always has been about pushing the boundaries (sp?). Dave is definately pioneering the use of Package Manager together with traction maps and thoughtful track design to add new depth to the game. Trust me...you'll ALL be thanking him with big smiles plastered across your faces soon!

i got another question can the bike folder have subfolder whit the name of the model so we can sort the skins out?

DirtTwister

MCM2 only looks in the bike folder so MCM 2 won't look in any sub folder.
