Motocross The Force

Has anyone here seen this?

Looks to have alot of potential to me and already fun to muck around on.

IMO the physics are already more realistic and fun than MTX, but thats probably just me.

You're right, it's just you Mic. I think you're crazy! That is so primative in all aspects of handling that I can't even believe that you suggested it in the same breath as MTX. At least you can TURN in MTX. This game is like some kid's idea of something to take the place of the never released MCM3. The bike doesn't turn or move even slightly realistically. The tracks aren't tracks at all...the displacement maps look random and un-engineered and ride that way as well. It almost reminds me of a mod from another game engine to an MX type game...only done very poorly.  ::)

That's just MY opinion though, I scanned the site and the download and it appears to be safe...so if anyone feels like trying this out...I would say "Go for it". I'd like to hear what others think about this as well.  ;)

What do you expect from a 4MB game... lol

Im talking about it as an unfinished product, just seems to have potential to me  ;)

ATR_RaTaX2

gta encourage mx game creation, i like the bike and rider models. Cant turn, tracks are pos'

iLLo

looks like its a bunch of mcm2 stolen and just a way unifinished attempt at a game

cR

I've seen this game probably longer then a year ago... and then I tought *#*#* is this, kinda looks like ripped mcm2...

There is some potential in the game..... Although the bikes accelerate WAY too fast.

I like the way the bike dances. I kind of like how the bike turns, although it needs alot of refining. They need to reduce friction to the wheels so the bike can slide out a bit....

Always, its always cool to see more mx games out there. Nice find micky ;)

The way the bike handles kind of reminds me of playing with the Ricky Charmichael Rc bike from radio shack  :D

VMX_101

Gee I wonder if he would be willing to come over to MCM2 and add some improvements. Not saying this would be possible, but another person that knows coding in the community and who likes MX might be handy.

Might be something to consider, if he's interested thats is.

Hmmm....  I know it handled like a rag doll, but the way it bounced and navigated bumps was perfect.  We need to get in contact with this guy and see if he has made any improvements. :)

Are you SERIOUS? It feels to me like your on a balloon/mx thing that bounces around like it's on the moon! Performance/Quality/Ridability-wise...I gotta say it's lacking...well... A LOT! As for him coming here and adding anything...MCM2 blows it away in every respect...just what do you guys think he could add? Remember the MR3 guy who wanted to do the same thing? Remember what happened to him? Neither do I!

I don't mind encouraging development of any MX game...far be it from me to undermine anyone's efforts. But you've gotta be realistic about this...notice the timelines for the different versions? I'd say that this is the product of somebody who wanted to get into programming that also happened to be a MX fan. Judging by the dates on the timeline I'd say that he's lost interest and/or moved on to something else.

My point? Don't get your hopes up for some big breakthroughs...

I would say this is a project in physics.  It is programmed in a language called  LUA and a bunch of the code is provided.  It looks like you could make tracks and change how it works.

If you ride it more like you would a real bike over unfamiliar terrain it actually is pretty good as far as the bike and rider responding to the bumps.

Imagine riding on real bumps like that.

Also imagine riding with a hair trigger throttle and brakes, that only have an off and on.

While not refined there is a lot going on in the demo.  It's not easy to do.

As far as MCM2, it's not really practical to try to modify it.  It's physics (with the exception of one thing) are what we have to live with.

It comes down to opinion ALOT, i mean from what i saw you had nothing but praise for MTX, which had such bad physics in regaurds to hitting bumps that they had to give the bike/rider a set animation to use when going through the stutters.

Mx is in real life is hard, and technical, and this game seems to to relplicate some aspects of it reasonably well.
If the cornering of Mx Force was a little more stable/predictable, and turned sharper when the bike came in contact with banked terrain (like a berm), then it would be the best cornering i've seen in an mx game.

It does have alot of bugs, but it's not a complete game, and from what i can see this is just one guy doing this, rather than a team of programers, and it looks to me so far like he's done a pretty decent job.

If mx physics were easy to create you would see more decent mx games out there, rather than 1 or 2.

And shouldn't we be encouraging people like this?  :-\

i didnt see that, but i intended it as general statement.

Benoit Chaperot

Hi all,

Thank you for your comments and support.
If you look at the dates, the latest executable available for download is dated September 2004.
Since that time my friend Eric and I have continued working on the project, and the latest version, not yet available for download, is a lot better.
Most of the work has focused on improving the bike handling, how good it could turn, and how easy and fun it was to ride.

We are only two, and currently Eric is busy with other things. We can not totally compete against teams of more than 50 people like Rainbow Studio; but so far we are doing very well.

Similarly, we do not intend to do the same games as Rainbow studio do; we want to concentrate more on the simulation and less on the aracade aspect of the game. A motocross bike must be a fun vehicle to ride; we want our bikes to react to every bump on the track, and we want to convey a rich and enjoyable riding experience to the player.

The riding is not perfect; the bike can still not skid right; but we are working on it and eventually we are confident we will manage to get it right.

More information and a video of a latter version can be found on the site:

Congrats for guys like that.
Sure, it's funny to see a game in construction...

But there... I'm dead lol.

I agree some moves of the bike looks real.

Bien joué les gars ! (Well done guys).

VMX_SKYmx99

Thanks for the update dude.  I can't wait to see what you guys come up with for the next version. :)
