Oh man... I can already tell a big difference in the handling in that vid.  The sounds need some work, but I know that isnt your focus right now. ;)

ElDiablo (Paul)

Ok I'm impressed with the improvement in terrains and bike handling. I think with the addition of the rear wheel being able to slide out you will add a lot to the realism/sim factor. Obviously you're just using some beta (test) engine sounds. But the bike physics do seem to be coming along nicely now.

Do you have or plan to have a clutch? How about seperate front and rear brakes? Those are things IMO sadly lacking in most games... Rainbow did a great job with including a usefull clutch in their last few MX titles. But nobody has been able to integrate seperate control of front and rear brakes that I know of. Except of course Climax with the Moto GP series road race games.

Definately keep us updated.

Good to see your still working on it, looks like you made some major developments in the new version :)

Clutch

I had to jump in here and say that that video looks impressive. The demo I tried sparked my interest but that video has me eagerly awaiting the next release. Along with the things Diablo mentioned about the rear wheel sliding out... in the video I noticed a lack of gyroscopic effect in the air under accelleration but I know you guys are still hammering it all out. The physics in the video appear to have great potential to be exciting and some parts seem to be more realistic than anything else I have seen. Great Work. It would be cool to see the talents of this community stand behind a project like this. The depth of resources in the MCM2 community between track creators, artists, modelers, and coders could really contribute to the evolution of this becomming what we are all looking for.
Thanks Benoit for visiting our community and shariing your comments. Visit often and keep us updated.

VMX_101

Very well said Clutch,

I would have to say this has a lot more potential then MCM2 does physic wise. I also think it could also be much more if the mcm community would be willing to help out. But again that is purely up to them. I for one wouldn't mind helping out in any way I can. I think it has a lot of potential.

Thanks for the update keep us posted.  ;D

Wow!
Benoit, your game looks promising. I think it is truely incredible that you and one other person have sat down a created a moto game. Thank you for your time and effort.
This community ALWAYS likes a new version of motocross game. I(we) hope that you continue to develop on a already great foundation of a game.
Cant wait for the latest build.

If you need a mirror site please let me know. I would be more than happy to host it for you.

VMX_D-Dub

WOW ! this game is really fun !

I love the phsics, I cant wait for the new beta !!

Good job !!

BPh

And why not these guys join the TD crew ?

cR

I'm interested in supplying tracks and objects... I tried to put a track of mine in, did work aldo at first looked weird with the wrong height/grid. I was thinking you guys might want to contact 2XL Games? Meybe they are interested in further developing this way further, those guys over at 2XL are also the ones who did support the community right? I think they would like something like this...

Garasaki

You guys really need to read the papers this guy has on his site.  Good stuff...plus I can't imagine presenting papers about video games to your PhD proffs!!!

It would be really cool if this guy and the MCM2 community could get together, but I sense some reluctance on his part.  He dosen't seem to realize that the MCM2 community has the same goals he does, and that a game can be both "arcade" and "simulation" at once.

BoNalls

Looks much much better compared to the latest beta. One think thats obvious is there are no rear brakes. This needs to be added as you shouldnt be endo'ing every time you brake. And im sure once they figure out the tire sliding the game will be fun as heck.

Keep up the good work, you have alot of supporters now  ;D.

Benoit Chaperot

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments, suggestions and support.
Yes, I will try to have the rear wheel to slide, while accelerating or braking.
I did not think of having seperate controls for front brake, rear brake, and a clutch.
My personal opinion is it is better to keep the control simple, similar to the control in MCM.
I thought I could add the gyroscopic effect of accelerating and braking while in the air, but I thought it may be redundant with the lean forward, backward command.
I do most of the programming and game design myself; MCM2 fans are my friends, I know I will need the support from the MCM2 community for game adjustments, track design and creation, and DirtTwister is a good place to get that support.
I will keep you updated as the project goes.  :)

I have ride the demo and i like it, some things need be better, the rider move on the woops and to the bumps of the terrain thats good (mcm2 doesn´t do that) , i think this game can be a very good game  on the future , i didn´t see the video of the new version but i will and maybe we can ride a demo of the new version if possible of corse in the future.

Thanks for the video and demo and for let us know the news on the game, (btw i have put 1 of my dispamps of mcm2 and i ride it and i have like alot do the curves and then full trottle, the bike and the rider react very near the reality and i open my texture 1920x1920 of the hidef track of mcm2 and it work good)

thx

:)

Beniot,

I hope you realize you are talking to a forum full of people with grayscale displacement maps they would love to send you to use in this game.

No offense, but your "stock" tracks are a bit lacking.

Having played the old demo and watched the video, I have to say I'm very impressed.  There's so many good things I saw.  The best part was, when I first fired up the demo, I was messing with the controls and the very first thing I did was tip the bike over.  Name another MX or any motorcycle game EVER where you could tip the bike over?!??  The controls definately need some tweaking (I hope you allow users to configure gamepads too) and in general things are a bit rough, but the physics involved are really a great start and a huge step in a different direction then current MX offerings (that's good).

To those of you whining about endoing while braking, and looping out under acceleration, remember this is a simulation.  You have to lean forward to avoid the wheel coming up when  you are on the gas, and lean back under braking.  Just like you do in real life.  Which is damn cool.

BoNalls

Yeh but my front tire doesnt have peanut butter all over it either  ;)

Red_Alert

i think its a very good start, a lot of people were judging it as a final product as first and you can't do that with things, im very excited to see what happens with the project and i hope we all can help improve it, can't wait for the next release it looks a lot better  :)

22Ryann

im stoked with this.. i relly feel it has good potential..! the rider reacts really well.. this is just a start so its promising i feel

VRT_JPRLisbon_

any new about Motocross the force Benoit ?
any new version demo ?  :)

Bulldog

I'm also curious if this is still being worked on.  Does anyone have any new info?

I love playing around with the physics.  You can go super slow and then endo, straight into a wheelie, into an endo, into a wheelie, into .... ;D  It's great fun.
After playing about an hour, I started getting used to it.  Basically you just have to be really careful, and think way ahead.  Pretty realistic from that aspect.  I also LOVE the way you can be "tippy toeing" around a corner, and then whack the throttle wide open, lean back a little, and just rocket down the straight.
I'd love to see more from this.
