DE Activities tab - Splines outlined by boxes?

I don't think this is an issue that has been previously covered, at least not that I have seen on the forums, so here goes...

I've been working on creating my first track in DE for Reflex, and I have the actual track done pretty well to my satisfaction.  I have been working on my National splines for the track for the last few days when I get a free minute, and until now my biggest issue has been learning how to control the AI path and understanding the boundary placement in relation to the track in game.  However, as of lately, I can load the .track file up just fine, move freely around the map in the Objects tab, etc. with no issues, but when I go to the Activities tab and load my Nationals track into the map (it doesn't load up with the .track file for some reason, I don't know if that is normal), many of the lines defining the boundaries of the track are surrounded by a box of, alternatively, either whatever window/desktop is behind DE on my monitor or the dark gray background of DE.  This is supremely frustrating, as it makes it very difficult to edit the points or add new sections.
On top of that, if I zoom in or out or move around in the map, all of the lines keep copying over to the screen position I am currently viewing, though the actual editable points and lines remain where they belong (sorry if that's confusing, I don't really know how else to explain it).  This wasn't an issue until recently, and prior I had no problems editing anything in the Activities tab.  As I said before, the issue seems isolated to that tab.  I have tried loading different activity files in on the same track only to achieve the same result.
I am (WAS) preparing to post my track on Reflex Central for beta testing, but would like to correct a few KNOWN issues with the splines first from my own testing, but I have been unable to do so because of this interesting situation.  Any help/suggestion is greatly appreciated.  I'm just starting to figure out how to expedite the process of making a quality track in a timely manner with minimal post-creation editing, and now I'm fighting with the programs!  ::)

Note: I can't figure out how to post a picture attachment with the posting.  I know that a picture would be worth a million words in this case, so I'll try to put one up after posting

Mmh.. i think i have i had these problems but when they occour i fixed them by restarting DE or changing the tab and goin back in for the bug with the "spline copy all over the screen thing". Also its normal (at least for now) that the activity doesnt get imported when a .track file is being loaded into DE. I asked laurie about it but i dont remember what he said :p.

Unfortunately, I have tried changing tabs, and that rids the screen of the copies, but not the boxes, nor does restarting DE, running DE as admin, making DE high priority, closing all other programs, even restarting my computer.  I'll have to try making a new spline and seeing if the problem persists, or if it is somehow related to opening an existing file.  I doubt that is the case, but I don't know what else to try.

CORRECTION:
Changing tabs removes the copied splines until I move the screen again; however, the boxes remain, obscuring my haybales and other landmarks, and the copied splines return upon screen movement

Creating a new activity spline has revealed that for some reason, DE is retaining memory of all movement of the splines, even after that activity has been deleted.  When I made a new activity and put a spline node and then clicked it out over the previously splined area, all of my previous spline copies appeared within the confines of the new spline, inside a white box behind the new splines.  they appear only as an image, a replacement for the terrain of the track if you will.  So, then it appears my issue is that for some reason, DE has memory of my activity from the last time I saved the .track file, even though it doesn't load up that activity file with the track file.  As such, when I open my activity file, the overlap of the previous with the new causes the box-ing.  I still haven't a clue what might be behind this, however.

Perhaps I should try replacing all of my Terrain tab files?

The way DE draws splines isn't something Vista or above likes very much, to get round that problem you need to set 'Disable desktop composition' in the DE shortcut properties under the 'Compatibility' tab. Have you tried that?

That seems to have solved it, thanks!  I never would've thought of that.
