Hi there,

I've recently been getting interested in making content for the Reflex game and have spent some time gathering resources and watching videos and I finally decided to have a go. I started playing around with some objects but have some holes in my understanding and am wondering if someone can fill them for me?

First, I'm running version 0.8.2.23 of DE on Windows 10 (I have the program set to run in Windows 7 mode and launch as admin each time) on a 64bit machine. As a side note, I had to install PhysX separately.

1. So I have added a few objects to the screen (see below) and when I save the game as beta and have a test run I can only go up the ramp that is right at the back. I set the properties of the other ramps to match but didn't help. In game I can just drive straight through the ramps. Also, the other objects on the stage i.e. the tires stop me as they should. Is this because I haven't added an actual track (height maps etc)? I also saw this but didn't quite understand http://twisteddirt.com/smf/index.php/topic,4623.msg27173.html#msg27173

2. I noticed that some of the models have: (nc) in their name. What does this mean?

3. Some of the ramps have Anchor in their name. What does that mean?

4. I also noticed that randomly DE stops applying changes. As in I can still change the values but they wont stick through a save and I can select different models but can't add them to the stage. After restarting DE it works again. This may have to do with running on Win 10 in compat mode?

Thanks in advance for any help and for all the time everyone has spent over the years building and maintaining these tools!

Cheers.

I suggest using the ramps in the "second object tab" (grouped objects) next to the house (the icon with 2 balls). I guess NC means no collision (not sure) but when you go in the other tab and place these ramps there should be no problem with it since the actual model AND the collision gets placed in the same spot.
Hope it helped ;) (also if u custom ramps -> add me on stam @ *STS*Ds19 )

@Darkslides19 Thank you that makes a lot of sense now! Do you have any recommendations on tutorials for building objects? I imagine it would start from making an actual model etc?

Edit: Search is my friend. Going to do more reading :)

Mmh.. to make custom objects you basically only need to know how to work in a 3d modeling program (cinema4d; 3ds max; blender, even google sketchup;...etc) and trust me.. there are many tutorials on youtube. When its about the reflex part i can also tell you a few things but for the basics..:youtube.
