i used to have windows 10 and a lot of track editing stuff wasnt working so i went back to windows 7, every time i try putting any of my .track files into DE i get an error message saying "This track format is not supported" .. this happened on windows 10 also. plus i cant save any height map/ rgb to overwrite the old ones

mmh.. this only happens a few times to me.. but only when i try to open a .track file directly on the start window. when i import it by clicking the green button it works fine. also i dont have any problems with saving ._.

That's a general message that you see when DE has any kind of problem loading the track file. Can you switch on logging and see how far it gets with the load process?

The fact that you can't save heightmaps/rgbs makes me wonder if there isn't something different with you win7 install. You might be stopped from saving files if you try to save them in protected areas of the windws folder system., unless you run DE 'As administrator' from the shortcut properties. Where are you saving the files to?

I also suspect that it may have something to do with your Windows settings.

Have you tried adjusting user permissions in  the Properties>Security> tab of DigitalEathworks.exe?

the files have a number after them. every file that i backed up to my computer to then load in the future (now) has the date i backed up my pc. for example: "BajaAcres (2016_01_02 20_54_15 UTC).track" instead of "BajaAcres.track" when i backed up and restored my pc it must have messed with the files somehow to where i cant load my .track file back into DE to continue working on it, ive never had this problem and i tried renaming the file but that changed nothing

you will need to change all of the file names in the folder that holds the track files. Inside the track file there are references to other files, and if those names were changed as well the it won't be able to load the other files the track needs.
