by the look of those pics, it appears that the track is now in an "open world" like reflex, rather than in mud you where locked into a racing spline like gran turismo. So that's a huge leap forward from mud!! graphics look fantastic too! so im actually looking forward to it a lot more now!!

Yeah at first I thought it was a real picture lol, but it sure looks like a huge improvement..  ;D

MX vs ATV Supercross / MX vs ATV Alive of what we never got seeing it was ALL the dlc from alive. As for MXGP The videogame, cant knock them for mud, honestly it was there first ever mx game. #CouchRacers

The demo (PC version only atm) has been out for a couple of hours : http://store.steampowered.com/app/256370/

The game feels much more difficult than MX vs ATV Reflex. Or perhaps I'm just bad...  :)
Use the rider control (right stick) a little too aggressively and you crash almost all the time. It's a little annoying at times, but I guess you'll learn some kind of balance eventually...
The biggest difference to other motocross games is probably the fact that you really have to slow down in curves. After a couple of hours of playing the same track I'm still going wide quite often.

JamieT

Yeah it takes abit of time to get the hang of it.  I find that leaning outwards with the rider (rather than inwards), helps a lot in high speed corners.  I do find that I can suddenly crash in slow speed corners very quickly when the track gets a bit rougher.  The environment looks really good, and it's probably the best asset of the game.  The things that turn me off about the game are the whips.  These look very scripted, compared with Reflex which allows for much more variety and style when air born.  Also the rider physics aren't too great when you land from a high altitude.  The rider seems to have muscles of steel! :)  Overall I like it, but it hasn't given me a buzz to where I feel like I need to buy it right away.  :-\

karpuha

I agree with you 100%. Only I would add great repeats))) This is when a repeated look more interesting than playing the game)))

Jamie told me about this yesterday on STEAM chat.   :-*
I played for an hour yesterday & it was fun & then played again today.

Bikes have "weight" & you land with a thud & loose momentum (in a good way).
First person camera was very good (1 race) but I was faster in 3rd person (several).
I'll try 1st person again & see if I just need to get used to it a while.

I started with all default settings = base physics, joined brakes, easy AI, etc.
After a few races I bumped up physics, split brakes, medium AI & it felt better.
Then I "maxed" settings but kept auto shifting & tried the PRO AI.
I could stay in the top 3 for the 1st lap every race but got tired (?) on lap 2-3.
I jacked with my controller & made it more like Reflex but got the same results.

It's on my STEAM wishlist @ $40 full price & $34  (-15%) pre-order today.
I'll wait though... it's fun for $20 (-50%) & maybe $30 (-25%) if MP is good.

I like Reflex much better, but if we could combine most of Reflex, some MXSIM + some MXGP we would finally have MX gaming nirvana!!!!

RKipker

Very Good assessment King.... however I'm going to bite at the 15% discount as I think Milestone/Black bean have earned my support.  for 14 tracks, and pretty good physics, maybe the money response will help them issues/spend time developing  some bug fixes/updates to make it better.

I think with more time it will feel better... but no reflex it is not!

Please tell me how you Jacked with Controller?  I did not see a sensitivity adjustment for the sticks.  The body movements/right stick is only minimal response and if the guy leaned more it would be better I think.  I've only plated a few races, messed with gears and AI on Med... finished 4th.  only did a total of 4 - 3 lap races though.

I bought it... 33.99 is a cheap price for a full game... these guys did a good job for first release.  Maybe they'll improve and maybe even release a retro pack.... 70's and 80's bikes like they did in Moto GP

MUD sucked so bad, it made me gun shy of "supporting" every moto game that comes along.

AGREED... Real Bad!

The more I play the more I'm enjoying it... must use Pro Physics though with separate brakes.  The bikes do suffer from lost of momentum which is good and as in real life.  I think the starts and first turn is great!  FEELS MORE LIKE A REAL START than any previous game I've played

Miki

I was wondering if it's possible that the actual game is significantly different from the demo version. I mean the "on air" control doesn't seem finished/polished at all. If you scrub/whip the bike automatically straightens itself and you land on your front tire. The animation is exactly the same every single time and you have no control over the bike's movement while scrubbing/whipping. It would just seem weird to release the game at this state, especially since most fans have talked about scrubs and whips for months...

RKipker

Miki, I'm thinking the Demo is a little buggy... I'm seeing stutters even and averaging 90-100 FPS with FRAPS...!~ Also sounds stop working if F1/F2 is used a few times.

Yeah this is probably the most disapointing aspect of the game.  If you use the rider to lean inwards on a corner, the scrub animation will kick in if you leave the ground for a split second (when hitting a bump or rut) and most of the time it casues you to crash, or maybe shoot across the track if you're lucky.

In interviews the developers spoke about the in-air movement being "controllable" in this game... It most definitely is not!  >:(  There is no freedom or style like there is in Reflex.  I'd say that this demo is a very good representation of the final game.  After all, the game is release in a few days.

RKipker

Well its not reflex (we may never get updates for Reflex) but its fun and new.

I think the so called SX game Nordic is doing has me skeptical... blending reflex and alive with the old MX vs ATV...!  I'm not sure they're not getting this goofed up, I hope not.

I was just hoping for DLC right off for Reflex... but nothing.

I think it's a descent game. The visuals and track replicas are excellent! However, I was let down by the bike physics and restricted rider movement. Also at times there seems to be no bike to terrain interaction, can't really tell the difference between hard/soft  or rutted/smooth terrain based on bike physics alone.
