Well it's finally here, Digital Earthworks with objects. Big thanks to the TD team, Al167 and JamieT for the testing and feeback, which has made it possible to fix a long list of bugs and add few extra features.

Thanks also to JamieT for the preview pictures, creating the stadium, bridge and ramp groups and organising the bales.

You can get the new version of the editor here:

Link: DigitalEarthworks v0.8.1.8 11 Nov 2012

This version also conatains a fix for the green screen issues some people have had, but i can't test it myself so it would be good to know if anyone with that problem can let me know if it is fixed.

If you find any big problems then please post any them here.

Have fun.
Laurie

There is still a problem with the green screen, i think i have a fix for that now, you can either download an updated installer from the link in the 1st post, or you can download just the updated Reflex.dll from the link below and copy it to the folder:

%DE installation folder%\plugins\

Link: Reflex.dll v0.8.1.8

This DLL should only be used with v0.8.1.8 of the editor.

I had the graphic problems and they are fixed now! Thank you for the great work.
Finally I can start to work on my own tracks without problems  :)

I don't know why mxmaniacs (mvamaniacs) is down. I sent a note to Reaper but no reply so i guess he's busy..

JamieT

Maniacs is down because Reaper hasn't paid the server bill this month.  It has happened about 3 times in the last 4 months.  The last time it happened, I made a post on their forums asking about it, and he said that the family finances come first, and his hobbies second.  He said thet he will never shut the site down,  but occassionally it may go offline for a few days.  Hopefully it'll be back soon.

hii. i have a problem, witch is that when i open the game, for the first time one this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge5dVi3-M0k) it shows me a window telling me that the game has a problem, and sistem is trying to fix it, but it never fixes...
but this only pops up when the map is loading... i need help please!  :(

al167

need a little more info. can you get other custom tracks from mxmaniacs working? if you cant, try following  the instructions in some of my tracks from www.mxmaniacs.com.

Howdy all, nice to see track creation happening with Reflex! I'm keen to convert some of my old MCM2 tracks and also create some new ones for reflex.
First of all though, i would like to send a big thumbs up and a thanks to Laurie and all the boys for their dedication into these track creation tools!! nice work!

I have encountered 2 problems so far with the Digital Earthworks editor, when i click on the new track button, select reflex track and then click OK on the pop up box, it gives me a error "Access violation at address 0065D149 in module DigitalEarthworks.exe Write of address 00000000"
I have tries a few things and also have the latest PhysX and video drivers. I've had the Beta slots there and playing user tracks for a while now.
I'm on XP SP3, do i need win7?
Also i can't download the latest version of the editor, it downloads real slow and stops near the end. tried many times and it just doesn't wana finish.
any thoughts?

al167

mmmm. the only thing i can think of is when you installed DE did you "run as administrator". You apparently need to run as an administrator as it needs to write to the registry. watch my tutorial video 1 for a step by step install.

DMT_sambo

Hay Al, Yep i've gone over your vids, great work btw! thx! But windows XP doesn't have that run as administrator option, it has a "Run as" and all that asks is what user account you want to run the program under, i only have one account which is an admin one anyways.
I was hoping to try the latest editor to see if it is any different but it doesn't wana dl properly. Do you know of another link i could get it from?

thx
Sambo

man xp is old school these days..... um im sorta stumped im win 7 64 bit... maybe something for laurie to help you!! did you get reflex working on xp? im just curious? also laurie did have problems with a new isp causing slow downloads. looks like it may be playing up again.
have you got a win 7/vista pc to try it on?

DMT_sambo

Yeah reflex works fine on steam in xp, had it for while now (i've given your tracks a floggin over the last few weeks, very nice work btw! A1 and monster energy cup were pretty much spot on! are u doing anymore of the sx series? i always dl the races.)
Anyways back to the problem haha, I've been planing to get win7 for a while now, but i have tried the editor on the missus laptop quickly, it has win7 64, but the editor didn't even start, was missing a .dll file, and i did select run as admin when installing it. I didn't get a chance to research what file was missing at the time, but i'll look into it.

mcm2boys

Sry for the slow reply i'm in the middle of moving house, so replies for the next few weeks will be hit and miss. :)

Sounds like DE didn't download properly, though i would have thought the installer would complain about corrupted files - the missing DLL shouldn't happen either. It's a shared server so sometimes it's slower than others if you keep trying it should get there, though i do need to do something more about the slow downloads. I just downloaded it twice in under 5 mins.

I haven't tested it recently on XP so i'm not sure if there is a problemor not, but i think it should work on most flavours of windows that are running DirectX 9c or above, which it will need to have anyway to run Reflex..

PS I've changed the link for the download so it comes from the TD site now so it should be faster until i can work out the problems with my own ISP..

DMT_sambo

Cool thanks for the link change, that worked. Well out with the old one and in with the new one but it still does the same error (didn't think the latest one would fix the problem though) definitely something else that it's not happy with on my PC haha. When i get time i'll try sort out what files it was missing when i tried it on my partners laptop with win7, and if that works, it will narrow it down to just being something to do with my PC and or XP.

Thanks for your help so far guys! much appreciated! and hope the moving house goes smoothly for you Laurie, never a nice process hehe.

al167

i just tried downloading it to a win 7 32 bit laptop, and i too had a .dll missing. the missing .dll was d3dx9_33.dll
i found it on this site http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_33
just click the little white button that says "download zip file" then put it in your digital earthworks install folder. worked for me.
laurie im not shure if this is missing from the download link or wether my 32 bit machine should have had it but didnt. i cant check to see my 64 bit machine at the moment as its packed up as im moving too at the moment.
cheers al

mcm2boys

That DLL is part of directX 9.0c (i think that's the right version) and should be present if the right version of DX is installed.

oh, and good luck with your move too..  :)

al167

i tried updating direct x first. after that i was still missing that .dll. thats why i downloaded it sepperately.
yeah moving will probably take me a few weeks even though im just going literally 100m down the same street(moving to a bigger place with more yard spce for my little boy). ive got to sell my house im in now so my messy office is packed up, as it wasnt very inviting to potential buyers. so im stuck with this slow lappy for now. but it'll the job.
