Gents, I have designed tracks in the past using my own tga. files etc. For some reason when I "inport" my tga. files, the Armadillo program crashes.
I get the same result when I use someone elses custom objects....The program basically just shuts down. Anyone else ever had this problem? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am an ex cross country racer and am excited about making some cross country tracks for the community to try out.
Thank you for your time.

I would make sure that they don't have any extra stuff in them like layers, masks, etc.  You can try different options also (compressed, uncompressed, etc).  You might try saving them with a different program.  What program are you using to create them?

Hi Bruce,
I am using Paint Shop Pro8 to create the tga.'s. I also have Photo Shop and will try using it also. It's a bit confusing since I have used Paint shop before with good results. Also the custom objects I tried using today, which I got from the twisted dirt website, also causes the Armadillo program to shut down when I try to insert them into a track. The sequence of events is, when I hit the button that says  "inport TGA", the cursor arrow starts making a trail of arrows while I am moving it to grab the tga. from my projects folder. When I click on the particular tga. is when the program shuts down. I appreciate your quick response and will try other things in hope to overcome this problem.
Best Regards,

Paint Shop Pro 8 and newer save TGA files in a way that cause problems with textures in Armadillo.    The fix is to use a Photo Shop filter.  You can download this file http://dirttwister.com/utilities/targa_plugin.zip and unzip it into a folder.   In Paint Shop Pro 8 add that folder to the list of directories that PSP looks in for plugins.  I'm not sure of the PSP 8 menu but in XI it is File-->Preferences-->File Locations.

When you go to save a TGA file after doing that you should see a new entry in the File Save As dialog.  The new entry will start with Targa instead of TGA.  Use the Targa option.   I don't know if this will fix your problem, because I never had Armadillo blow up from it.  I did have it display the textures incorrectly, so I know it won't work unless you do this.  I could see how it could blow up Armadillo went you use these TGA files as textures for objects.
