Well it's been an age since i was last around these parts and so much has changed.
When i last logged on here, mx vs atv was just out in the US and everyone was raving about it.
I have just got a copy after all this time from a friend so loaded it up.
First thoughts are that it's very easy to play, i've downloaded all the top tracks(mx, sx and fmx) from mcmfactory and i cant help but feel the tracks ride very easy unlike mcm2 where i had to work that bit harder to get lines etc...
Apart from that i seem to be enjoying it and thought i'd ask a couple of questions...
1. are there any graphic settings similar to MCM2? for example the ability to increase and decrease graphics quality via the F buffons?
2. Is the process of taking screenshots the same as MCM2, where each tap of the Print Screen button stores an image in the games root folder?
3. Are the video settings the same, where you could press shift or ctrl and the f button to freeze the game and then move the camera angles around with the numberpad?
Any help with the above would be great as i didnt get anymore than a disc with my copy..
Thanks.
Rich

1.) nope done in options menu
2.) Nope need a screenshot capture program
3.) Nope can't freeze, you can move the camera angles around tho.

Thanks for the reply man, good to see you too  ;)
This is a bit of a step back from mcm2, i was wondering why people were not rating the game so highly  :-\
I dont get time to play these games like i used to nowadays anyway, but it is a shame they didnt really improove everything about the old game rather than remove usefull features.
Atleast i have the pleasure to switch between both games as and when now, but are people still making mcm2 releases as they are all disabled at mcmfactory?

No...but why would you want to? There is a 30fps frame rate cap on the game...which means changing the settings isn't going to increase your FPS and therefore no bonus to running lower res settings.

YES...you can hit PrtScn and Windows stores that ONE pic in the clipboard. You have to take one screenshot at a time and pause the game, go out to your graphic editor (or just use Paint) to save the image...then go back in and do some more riding/ss taking. It does NOT however store successive screen shots like MCM2 did and nothing is stored in the game folder, it's a windows thing which SHOULD work in any game.

Nope...that's what I miss the most about getting screenshots from MCM2. The only way around it is to take out the helicopter and use the Heads Up view. That's how most people get good in-game screenshots for track pics anyway. You'll have to crop the pic down or clone out the blades though. Cause the game puts a blurred blade in the top 1/5th of the screenshot.

Hope that helps you figured at least SOME of this game out. It's not without it's bugs...but it's still the best thing we've got at the moment, that we can also make tracks for.

I would suggest that you try out the REAL PHYSICS mod that's out and try tracks that are built for it. You'll find yourself 'working' at lot more to get good laps in and I think you'll enjoy the game more. You can get that stuff over at www.motocrossgamingforums.com by doing a bit of topic searching. You don't jump quite as far, you crash easier, it's just more realistic IMO.

Welcome back btw!  8)

Anyone else having problems getting on motocrossgamingforums?
It's never worked for me so havent been able to get the real physics mod  :-\
Also i saw a video capture someone had done from the game using the helmet cam view, halfway round the track they pulled a backfip? What mod allows that?

I searched their forum and looked in the download section.  I could not find a download for the "Real Physics" mod anywhere.  Could someone please post a link to the page that contains the download link?

Thanks,
Pete

Nevermind...I found it.  I didn't notice the link that was posted all over the place that goes to another site (because it didn't say it was for the physics mod).

But you can find the mod here.

Yes, the remaining MCM2 community can be found at mdxracing.com.

MDX currently has 676 members, several thousand MCM2 tracks to download, many active MCM2 track creators still uploading new tracks and other new things including a Recorder and records database.

If you still have an interest in MCM2, come on by and take a look around.

Still no joy getting on that site, i can get on any other site but as soon as i go there it's as though it dosent exist  :-\

And i'm probably being really dumb and missing something really obvious here, but how do i do the backflip? Ive gone into the trick list and it's not in there? and i've tried every possible combo on my gamepad?

And thanks for the info OTHG_Wayne i'll be sure to check that out as i still play MCM2  ;)

Rich, you can find the backflip proggy over at MDX in the utilities section.  It is also sometimes called a no crash hack, what it does is keep you on the bike no matter what.  So when you pull a backflip all the way over, you don't fall off.

Hey Rich, good to see you around.

In MVA you do the back flip by holding the 'stunt modifier button' and right off the lip of a jump you lean forward then back, kinda like a reverse preload motion.
Holding the stunt modifier button (usually a right trigger on a game pad) and hitting left, right off a lip will let you do a 360 to the right. Move right, left to do a 360 to the left.
By the way, the stunt modifier button also gives you variation on the normal stunts. For instance, Up and stunt button 1 with do a certain trick, while up, stunt button 1 and the stunt mod button with give you an entirely different trick. You can also change your trick list in the stunt mapping under options.

Hope you get it figured out.
