I've made bayles that crush when you ride over them for my new nat, they work good except they dont stay crushed, in fact i can't get 10 meters aways before they change back, seems no matter what i put in that second transition point feild it stays the same  :-\

Anyone got any suggestions ?

I found that the LOD settings only offer limited control and were dependent on the graphic settings you are using at the time (1-10) so the effect is different for everyone playing the track depending on their settings.

Ahh k, i'll just have to use it like it is then.

wow awsome idea micky

Yeh i'm kinda suprised it hasn't done before, and when you think about it having them crush is more realistic than them sliding out of the way, plus you still hit the bayle, you just don't crash  :)

From my understanding LOD (Level Of Detail) is a way of reducing the poly load on the gfx card by changing the object poly count as you get further away. It is a system where you use lower poly models when the camera is further away from the viewer. This is probably why the model looks crushed close up but as you ride away the model changes back to the uncrushed lower poly count model.

You havn't used SLT Assistant Laurie? Bassically just replaces one object with another and certain points, you can use it to reduce poly's at a distance or for other random stuff.

Fixer

I think what Laurie is saying is that the model will revert back to the uncrushed version and won't stay crushed, if you could trigger a 1 time animation upon collision- then you could get the desired effect.

;D you're right i haven't used SLT assistant but i think we're saying the same thing.

cud this be applied to the lights from el diablos mine track, cos a track that lights up as your going along it would be full of awesomeness

Is this possible?

You could make alpha channel lights appear pretty easy.

awesome im gna have to figure it out sometime.....

ya you could say build a track that had a long tunnel in it, and have lights along the ceiling that light up as you ride down the tunnel. That's not a problem. It could ALSO work for someone that was industrious enough to say create a THQ finish gate with two versions...one with and one without flames shooting from the top. Whenever you went through the gate it would switch to the model with flames. You could also find a sound that went with this if you wanted.

There are lots of options. Extreme used it in one of his SX's of old. He had lights in the floor that lined the track and changed color when you rode up to them as I recall.
