Well I got a chance to try the demo for this on the X-Box, if your looking for a game for a 8 year old kid then this might be a good choice other than that I have nothing good to say about this incarnation of the same old thing yet again. Honestly how long do they think people will buy crappy games like this. It looks a lot like that other POS game THQ made -"Cars"
Probably because it's the same target audience.

ToaDsiX

Fixer I totally agree with you. They actually went backwards in my opinion.

Hey Fixer, I'm back for a bit...

I've personally had the chance to play the game.  Check out the review I did.

http://www.xboxaddict.com/staff_review/12938.html

Let me know what you think.

Also, here's how it's doing via Metacritic.. http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/mxvsatvuntamed?q=untamed

Well Kam... (I know folks, it's been a while)  I have to disagree with you on this one!  I have the game for the PS3 (rented thank goodness from Gamefly) and it sucks.  The graphics are first, they look terrible for a PS3 game except when in the FPV.  But the FPV is a step back from the MXvsATV version.

I was totally disappointed with this one.... and no PC version in sight for tweaking!

I don't think the guys of the past worked on this version... like Rob from Rainbow.

2 Rob's actually worked on it Rob Kinneman (the one you are probably talking about aka DizNoReBase) and Rob Munoz (aka 420)...of course there is another Rob who is the director but doesn't actually work on the games. I can't recall his last name for the life of me right now.

DUH...it just hit me that you are talking about Rob Rinard who (along with Rick Baltman) of course formed 2XL Games Inc. (www.2xlgames.com). But to be honest those guys didn't work on MX vs ATV either. They in fact left right after (or slightly before) the release of MX Unleashed I believe.

I haven't seen it yet, but the trailers and screen shots look good to me.  What is it that you guys don't like?

Randall, are the pictures I see for the XBox 360 and the PS3 version isn't as good?

I was thiking about picking up the PS2 version...but not sure that I want to give money to them for this as I've recently found out that they released Checkerz448 (the last guy from the community to be hired) after the release of Untamed. I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet to find out what the deal is with that. But to have a guy move half way across the country for a job that pays that poorly and then to just release him in 6 months is just BS and sounds amazingly familiar to me.

My son purchased it for X-Box and I got to play it on a 42" High Def TV. I haven't played MX in a long time because of  FPS games making me sick ( a sign of age). The graphics on the TV looked great but the reality and physics are no where as good as the old PC version. First of all the start gate should hold you back when your up against it plus your not suppose to be able to do some of the things it lets you get by with but again it's just a simulation and I'm an old fart now so no need to complain. My daughter kicked my butt on the SX but I did prevail on the Nats. ;D One other interesting note is that when you try to run over the crowd they get out of the way pretty quick and the game resets you back on the track. I will tinker more with it as time and wife permits.

I'm now retired and enjoying life.

Paul, every single sentence you said is false.

Yeah Mike I talked with Chris' friend Cody Gilmore and he said that my information was wrong. It was something I heard from someone else who heard it on a community forum. So I guess that's how reliable it was huh?

I did pick up the PS2 version of the game by the way. Of course it's been dummed down to fit the resources available on the lesser (old gen) console. So I don't see a bit of texture difference at all...maybe they look a tad more realistic but not appreciably so. The track design is FAR better than it's been on everything they've made since MCM2. The tracks are more realistic, more challenging and (to me) more fun. But the friggin' clicks it takes to get from one race to the next (even in championship mode) seems to have gotten EVEN longer. It's also apparent to me that the UI structure hasn't changed one bit. It's just got new graphics but the exact same structure. The physics seems only vaguely different. At first it doesn't seem to have changed at all. But I think I can ride a lot further up berms and they seem more usable now as well. I haven't tried PRO physics yet so there may be some cool suprises there. To be honest the way the old UI was recycled here gives me the impression that this is a warmed over version of the last game. That's a shame because I think a total departure is what was really needed here to make this product stand on it's own instead of relying upon the name to sell it. Once you get past the stuff I just pointed out...the game is fun and the tracks are challenging. So it's a good game...just not as dynamic or earth-shattering as I was hoping for I guess.

I am digging the game more and more each day, you guys are missing out, here are a few crappy pictures I took (hard to do at night with no flash on the TV. What I like most are the tracks, at first I sucked so bad, I couldnt preload to save my life, now I am trying to scrub, these tracks are amazing, by far the best tracks Rainbow has made for any MX game.

MX45

Paul, the ps2 version is a different game all together.

Thanks for the compliment on the tracks, Blue.

Bob if you like COD4's graphics then you should try Crysis. I can't offer much in the way of a 'sell' here as I don't play FPS games...but my buddy Glen (VMX_PanicRev) does and on his super PC COD4 isn't near as awesome as Crysis. COD4 has jaggies still around the helmets and stuff...just a bit rough around the edges whereas Crysis has absolutely the BEST graphics in a game that I've ever seen. Check it out!

t's amazing to me after all the complaining people did about the UI that they couldn't even fix that.

Well enjoy the tracks because that's all there is and there won't be anything else ever for this game, let me know how great it is in 3 months.

Blue just press your printscreen button after you get the camera just right ....LOL

On a side note IW is releasing the mod tools for the PC version of Call of Duty 4- looks like this this game will have a long and much deserved life on my PC!
If you want to see some great looking screenshots look at that game and you'll see how far Rainbow has fallen behind the times. Been playing this since the beginning of Nov and it just keeps getting better with the Mods we already have and now the editor is coming out and the sky is the limit.

I've witnessed the Xbox360 multiplayer game and I'm not impressed at all. With no central server MS is running these games off of everbody else's connection - ripoff
My son is constantly complaining about the lag of Xbox.... meanwhile I usually get a 30-40 ping on my PC to my fav game server..

The match making and game lobbies give you a game-eventually... but while my one Xbox 360 addicted son is waiting in the lobby trying to get enough people to join a new match, My other son and I are playing match after match with up to 30 people on our favorite COD4 server with mods and new maps-lol.

Bottom line is if it's for a console I'm just not interested. of course you already knew that.... :P

I already played Cyrsis, lot like Farcry- graphics are important but MP play is where it's at and COD4 is the game to beat in my book. FarCry isn't very realistic and was a little over hyped.

I'm not sure about Glens jaggies but I'm not getting that on my PC's I did notice a little on the Xbox on the 1080p TV...

Downloading the MOD tools right now over 600MB! but coming in fast. I decided to give map editing a go for this game and I'm looking forward to exploring all the game making possibilties that I can create.

I saw a show last night on Spike TV and they talked about how all the really successful game companies are incorporating the gamers into the development of games on content, creating communities- what an idea....

download done..... :)

I played the demo of cod 4 and realy looks like we are on the midle of a real war from the grafics to the sounds . . .   :D
Need to play the day levels , should be great.

Can we have a Mx bike there with good phisyc's , Laurie  ;D  ?
would be good if was possible , in the midle of a war fight or not  ;) , since it was possible because the game is GOOD.

Just for a note, to me what is more important on a game is the online , online that works perfect and that is easy for all players and that have good precision and no lag , i dont care if we need t loose grafics quality to have very good online and alot players ,
thats why i like alot Grand prix legends (2004 updte) and do a weekly tourny and go do the 2008 GPL world cup with the 20 riders precision online of GPL , next the fun factor (hard is more fun) , next the physics , next the grafics/sounds .
A game without a very good online its a "dead" game to me , the custom stuf is a very important part also , like the online and the fun factor ,  to keep the game alive.

What i know for sure is that we need some GOOD stuff for motocross with great online ,custom tracks ... soon or this year  :)

btw 2xl games game is offroad baja simulation , can be fun for sure , will be for pc also ?

btw2 good pics Dave , any video from you , long video ?  ;)

I downloaded the Untamed demo on my son's 360 tonight.  All I can say is that I hope the final game isn't anything like the demo.  I had flash backs of the stiff MCM2 rider.  It all just seemed odd to me.  And the clutch didn't seem to do a darn thing.  I took off just as fast without using it as I did when I used it.  And the bike sounds are pathetic.  Even the MCM2 bike sounds were better than these. ::)

Like Mike said the PS2 games is a different game and the resources must be different too because I can't tell any difference really between Unleashed and Untamed's bike sounds. They don't seem to be any different. But if they ARE the same sounds in the Next-Gen game then I don't see what everyone is complaining about they aren't THAT bad and they are certainly better than ANY other MX game's bike sounds (and I think I've pretty much played them all).

I rented Untamed the other day and have played it a little bit but haven't spent a bunch of time with it.  There are some things I like and some I don't about the game play.

Overall I think the bike handling is not as good as it was in MX vs ATV Unleashed.  I don't like how the bike turns at all and the clutch doesn't do squat.  So squaring up corners doesn't really help at all in most situations.  I do like the way the bike preloads and how it reacts to bumps better though.  I also like the scrub feature.  One other thing I absolutely hate is that if you get bumped by another rider you spin around and end up facing the wrong direction almost instantly.  Frankly I would rather crash more often.

I still think the rider seems stiff and I liked the way the rider reacted and moved around on the bike better in the previous two games.

The tracks for the most part have been pretty good.  Although I haven't seen very many of them since I haven't spent that much time with the game.  I think the Endurocross is a cool touch although I have only run one track.

The bike tuning is OK but to be honest I could care less if I can adjust the tire hardness and suspension.

Like a lot of people I could care less if there are buggy's, monster trucks, golf carts and all that crap in the game.  I like MX and SX and that is all I play.  So I would prefer that then drop all the other stuff and spend more time on the MX and SX aspect of the game.  The quads are fun once in a while though.  But overall all the other vehicles can go away as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't played on Xbox live and have no plans to because I'm not going to pay to play.  Personally I think that is a racket since they don't even offer dedicated game servers.  If they had dedicated servers for hosting games I might feel a little differently about it.

And the worst feature of this game is that it is not available for the PC.

I saw a used copy of MX vs ATV Unleashed for sale the other day for like $9.95 so I may pick that one up for my son.  But I won't be buying Untamed until it is in that same price range if at all.
