The MVA patch is ready for DL.

If you've modified your common.pak file it won't install and you'll have to re-install the game.

Here's a list of what was addressed in the patch-

MX vs. ATV Unleashed by Beenox Studios - retail v1.0.1 patch

UPDATE v1.0.1

Gameplay:

* Crash involving saved profile has been addressed
* Crash involving one of the challenges has been addressed
* Added controller support to navigate through menu screens

Visual:

* Rider and vehicle now accurately depict dirt accumulating when applicable
* Rider and Bike shadows are clearly visible
* User created tracks' mini maps now appear correctly

Unleashed Editor:

* Fog setting have been adjusted
* Supermoto activity was added
* Support for placement friction maps was added
* Support for placement of Eco was also added

Unfortunately it appears that nothing to do with the multiplayer code was addressed in this version of the patch. I have no idea wether further patches are in the works. This stuff should give the trackmakers more to play with and should allow for more realistic tracks, at least for single play it's an advancement. For those who don't know...the friction maps not only control traction, but also roosting of water (and possibly roost per zone i.e you might be able to change roost color per zone). So if you place a water plane in the editor...you can also use a friction map to make the bike roost water. Not sure how it works yet as I am reinstalling the game prior to installing the patch at the moment.

Well I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with this patch.  That has got to be the shortest list of fixes I have ever seen for a patch.  Frankly I've had it with MVA and won't ever purchase another Rainbow product.  I know, it's not their fault....it's THQ's.  But I don't care.  I won't support Rainbow anymore.

Sorry about the rant....but I'm sick of Rainbow and this POS game.

bulldog.. that sucked reading that.. hate to hear it man.. but its ur thoughts i guess..

Well... I must say that it sure seems like they still hate admitting to making errors the first time.  I think the patch represents the effort they put in the game actually.

I mean com'on... MX vs ATV has been thrown together from the console versions!  A Quick Buck... and off course it's better than MCM2.... but still a quick money maker for Rainbow and THQ!

Hopefulkly they do more... but I doubt it.  This is the minimum I think they'll do...IMHO!

Sorry guys, but IMHO, MCM2 is STILL the game to beat.  My MVA CD has now been graduated to drink coaster as I won't be using it for anything else.  I am playing MCM2 and building efforts are MCM2 tracks.  I am now putting the same effort into MVA that Rainbow did... NADA - Zip - ZERO!

Hope to see you all in the Zone.

MVA is the best for me, maybe cuz it runs fine on my system, dunno...
MCM2 is too old yet, old and unrealistic physics, ... I was crazy of that game but now it's done for me. No more evolution possible. thanks TD for all what they did for MCM2.
I play MVA for my pleasure, I'll create tracks for my pleasure and for share them ... not for Rainbow !
Sure, if TD guys stop to create mods for MVA, it will be an offline community lol, with only a lap recorder and a ton of user tracks.
I'm just bored to see the complainers bashing a game like that. :'(
With all the respect I had to some guys, I'm sorry to say they are disappointing.
Peace.

I'm sure Laurie, Bruce and Jeff will do all they can to make MVA the best game it can be.  But unless they can do something with the on-line interface to make it a lot more user friendly I don't see this game lasting more than 6 more months before everyone gets sick of it.  Frankly aside from the profile crashing bug they really didn't improve anything.  Laurie most likely will figured out all the editor stuff that most people want anyhow.  Rainbow should have spent their time fixing the crappy user interface instead of this piddley crap.  MVA could have been an awesome game but Rainbow blew that opportunity.

This is only my opinion....

I think you miss the point here Phil.  It never was about the physics  :o.  It's about the community, the zone, the chat, the recorder, the records, the tourneys, etc.  If you want to sit around and play with yourself, then MVA is probably a good game for ya.  But physics didn't make MCM2, the family did.  And MVA will never have the family MCM2 does.

MVA is new and it has a few good points, but overall, it stinks as a PC game and will never command the on-line following MCM2 did for years (and still does).

We all have our opinions and this is just mine.  ;)

Fixer

The bike is the only improvement in MVA, just about everything else is a huge step backwards. The main issue I had with the game wasn't addressed with the "patch" that's the eyeball hurting 30 fps, I can't play this game for very long before I just have to quit because of it. (some people notice - some don't) 30 fps is just BS when you have a computer that can run this at least at  60fps. What other computer game limits the FPS to 30 ???

The menu's drive me nuts everytime I have to use them. I hated them on the PS2 and even more on a computer.

The things people wanted fixed the most aren't even being acknowledged.

I'll continue to play this game off and on but only because there is no real competition - that's the real problem here. They can sell half a game and if you want something new your stuck with this.

Having said all of that.. I do appreciate the efforts of the guys involved with the patch, it's just not enough to fix this game.
