I am haveing problems with crashing, sometimes I will be playing and for no apparent reason the game will freeze on me, audio will sometimes mess up from breaking up to a solid beep, almost like a solid post beep. The game will freeze up to the point where I have to alt tab out, then restart the comp to get it to work again, only to have it freeze up again.

My system
XP pro
SP 2
Direct X, newest ver
2.93 ghz
1 G ram ddr
256 mb Radeon 9550
POS sound card, but not on board

any suggestions??? Thanks

i cannot help you but its weird, you guys got more powerful computer than me, pentium 4, 3 ghz and etc. i got only Wndows 98, 500 mhz and when i installed MXvs ATV Demo i had no problem, i never get problem about a game in my pc.

With MCM i used to dual boot with 98 se, just because i didn't have any problems with mcm with 98 se, and with xp i did. I think I have narrowed it down to a sound problem thats causeing the freezeing, I was just playing it again with less computer players and I heard a high pitch wind noise, then the sound started breaking up, then it froze on me so... i dunno yet.....

It is most likely some other program taking over your computer.    Make sure that you don't have any spyware. If you can alt-tab out of the game have task manager running sorted by cpu and see what is running when the game freezes.

A better program to use is process explorer.  You can get it at http://www.sysinternals.com

Thanks for the replies but i don't have any spyware, I use Norton 06, Run microsofts beta version, have Spybot and also lavasoft adware, I am speaky clean, I even disabled norton thinking that was it and no go, I have nothing running on my task bar and nothing unnessarly running in the background to loaded at startup.

For some reason I am really thinking the sound card, just because its freezes usually after the sound starts going, What do ya think??

Oh yeah, for anyone who wants to know about the stuff running in your background, look at all the task manger programs running then cross reference them to this site, then either disable or allow throgh services......   http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm

I'm suggesting that you check at the moment that it's freezing.  If you can alt-tab when it's freezing I would bet that it is some program running.  With all that stuff you are running who's to say some portion of it isn't waking up and doing something.

All it takes is for some program to tell explorer to refresh itself and then it goes off looking for all your icons or some program trying to talk to a server that isn't available.
