Im with Suzuki... without MCM2 I wouldn't even know programs like Photoshop, 3D Studio Max excisted... now people still are like 'holy *#*#* how do you do that stuff man!?', and it's all thanks to MCM2 :)

http://taxpayer.nl/cR_MX_Track_01.jpg This is a track I made about 2 and a half years ago, and I'm gonna redo it right now to compare my skills from back then and my skills now... I might even make a stadium for it. Wish me luck  ;D

Hahahaha

So true CR, I've also become a better person and learned a lot from playing MCM2. I knew nothing when I first started. Now its just unreal what I can do with a computer.

I've also meet some great people, which have helped me a lot.

Its definatly overwhelming, getting an oppurtunity like this. Once in a life time you could say. I've been going through all my old tracks and anything else that may turn a few heads. lol

Its just crazy how far I've came from some of my first tracks. Heck my first website now that was scary lol.

All thanks to MCM2, sure is weird how things work out.

It's good to hear we all have about the same attitude and understanding of the potential "deal" here.

I haven't done much with MCM2 but race & play and do some re-makes... I am far from the best among this bunch...  but I am certainly capable when given the time and tools… not to mention the input that would gained from the rest of a LIVE TEAM!

I think Techno Tropic is my only original MCM2 track...  but I think I was an early innovator in MCM1's heyday and I made some good (old) tracks!

During MCM2’s lifespan, I changed careers & industries & did a lot of traveling and career development.  I've gained a ton of experience in many facets of business... and I can swim in the deep end.

From my perspective, there's a lot more opportunity here (for the individual AND Rainbow) than just sittin' at the PC and bustin' out mad tracks...  there are so many possibilities... and with time... and the right individual... there could be even greater opportunities for even more people...

YEAH - I DREAM BIG...  MMMWWWUUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

DIZ_No_Rebase

I added you to the list cR.

TO ALL:  Sorry I'm not giving more info about the position.  I feel at this point it's best to compile a list so I can streamline the info given.  Unfortunately, I don't have the time involved to answer every question right now but I hope I've covered the basics.  I plan to give each person on the list more info immediately after the May 6th cut-off (probably Monday May 9th) so they may better know if it is still interesting to them.

The basics:
1.  You will be a full-time employee of THQ/Rainbow Studios
2.  You will live in Phoenix
3.  We are interested in immediate employment.  (Reasonably negotiable - we understand people have lives and prior obligations.)

Has anyone seen Aus_Twisted lately?  He wrote me a Zone message but I accidentally left Zone Friends running and was away from the computer.  When I responded he was gone.  If you see him, tell him I said 'hey' and see if he's interested in signing up here. Thanks.

I'm not a track builder and i can't relocate to Phoenix unfortunately, but will you be giving help in arranging green cards or is this for US personel only? I only ask because because i see some non US people on that list.

Basically EVERY program that I use for track making is something that I NEVER used before beginning to make tracks. So, I'd have to say that this game has caused me to learn quite a few programs as well. I always thought that making tracks for the community was the most that I could hope to give back to a community that has given so much to me. But this shot at an actual position on Rainbow Studios design team is just absolutely a dream...for sure.

I'd just like to say that (in my opinion) probably NONE of us would have that opportunity now without the guys here at Twisted Dirt. So no matter who gets the job TD deserves a HUGE congratulations along with all the regulars who hang out on the forums and provide us with help on creation issues.

As Denny and a few others have said, I don't believe that I'm the greatest track maker here either...but I do believe that somebody here is the best candidate for the job. With that in mind...I'll let DIZ and the guys at Rainbow decide who that is. The way I see it, as of the last updated list, we've all got a 1 in 6 chance of landing our dream job.

Good luck to everyone!  :)
Sincerely,

Maybe I'm seeing this wrong, but I don't think it's a sure thing for a MCM guy to get the job. It's just that Rainbow knows the best place to look for new talent, so we (mcm creators) get almost a direct invitation to sign up. I hope I'm wrong and they really are picking one from this list.

And along with the disscussion, I owe MCM and everyone involved a thanks. EVERYTHING I know how to do on a PC I owe to MCM. I can't say it changed my life, but it was there when my life changed. Weird to think that of a video game.

Fact #1:  I can't promise that anyone on the list will be hired.

Fact #2: I have a direct hand in who gets hired and quite honestly, there isn't a lot of people coming out of art school with the talent, MX knowledge, and able to do this sort of creation.  Most art students we see are amazing 3D modelers but lack the talents we are looking for in MX track building.  There is a very good chance that it will be one (or two?) of you depending on how things move forward.

It's awesome to see the positive energy amongst competitive people.  It already shows me a glimpse into you attitudes and that none of you slander other creator's work, but you actually endorse each other.  That's cool!

mcm2boys, I'm unaware of the legalities of hiring outside the U.S. but I believe we had few employees (maybe we still do?) who came from outside the U.S.  It's one of the answers I don't have at this moment but I don't see it as a problem unless there are many complications with doing so.  I remember hearing about one employee who had to leave Rainbow because their visa expired and they couldn't get it renewed.  I think Rainbow actually went to bat for them but there was nothing we could do.  I'll try to find out more.

It is good to see Rainbow seek talent from the community that still supports MCM. I don't post much or race anymore but still read here. Just waiting on more MXU tracks to play one more time. I am now retired and enjoying my kids, bluegrass music and church. Live on a Golf course but don't play the game...all I see is an awesome MX track when I pass through..LOL!

My question to Diz is what happened to Rob? Is he still at Rainbow? Also keep digging and prodding and hopefully there will be a MCM3 for the PC someday.

_XPR_NESC160

I noticed Paul mentioned Colin earlier as a possible candidate , which we at XPR are overwhelmed that you look up to him as a great track creator, As far as him looking for a position like this , I know he moved about a month ago and hasnt been online since seeing cable isnt popular in his area but i'm trying to get in touch so that he can respond to this thread and give his opinion on it . Its great to see ya Diz back in the community of mcm2 , allthough i'm not a creator i've been a host of many tourneys over the years and your tracks have always been ones run in them and gotten great reviews from all  ;D

Good to see all of you and good luck to all who are interested in this oppertunity of a lifetime .

Didn't he say you have to be 18?

VMX_GravityX2

It would make more sense if you'd have to be atleast 18 years of age for this job.

That's true... Well I'm getting 18 on August 26th...

And if anyone is interested here's a sample of my work that I quickly wipped up,

The textures might look weird, I have the idea my monitor's brightness and contrast aren't set up to well... I didn't spend alot of time on the textures to, the ruts and other details could use some more work, but this is only a example. I didn't test this in-game, it's all made with Photoshop CS and 3D Max 7 (100% done myself, no patterns or anything used). Hope you guys like it, if so I might port it to MCM2...  ;)

Edit: tw0_f0ur_ confinced me to spend more time on this so I might have updates soon...  ;D
