hi i get this error when trying to load either prj or env projects and it wont load the td lod objects..
did try one version whitout object but no diffrence.
and on my other pc too to see if it was just my pc..

I have been beta testing this one, and I know that Laurie uploaded it like yesterday and was going to announce it formally in the forums, but he must have gotten side-tracked on something else.
I think that it should open ANY project file...not sure if it will open env's that weren't created by it, never tested that one out. But I've been using it to work on my current project without any errors for the last week. This looks like a problem for Laurie. But if you can't open ANYTHING in it...then I've got to assume that it's either because you don't have all the MXU res files...OR you are trying to open a file that it doesn't recognize for whatever reason.
I could use a bit more info, can you maybe send me an ENV or the set of PRJ files to try out. Obviously i have never had this problem. If i read you right you haven't managed to load any tracks at all into the new D2?
What type of track are you trying to load?
What are TD lod objects?

For what is worth (no offence meant MM) I wouldn't loose any sleep over hi-res. A large part of the community shun them do to increased lag on so many machines. They just don't run well, especially in the zone. There are just a lot of folks out there running PCI graphics and keyboard input. That and hi-res is an un-playable combination. Like I said, for what is is worth. Please don't take it personal MM.
Oh...BTW, Paul on your sig which is quite good, the guy sanding and waving appears to have a right arm that is 4-1/2 feet long  :o. Bet that suit wasn't cheap ;D

wow you are so way off you dont need good graphics card i have manny video cards a ..  2mb 2d ..  2 voodoo 2 12mb  ... voodoo3 16 mb ... riva tnt2 32mb ... asus v7700 32mb g2 ... msi fx5900 128..  ...ati 9550 256mb... Â
and every card from voodoo 2 to ati card i have run mcm2 so smooth
but not the new nvida cards form gefroce 4 and up(I can even run mcm2 on my 2m card)
now to the reason i am using high def first off i make an envoirement that is more than riding in circle
and in order to use leveller to its fulles i need all the resulution i can get so bigger the better..
if you ever seen the track i make you see that i often make fmx,sx,nat in same track..

LOL...Wayne...that's the Stock MCM2 Rider model...and all I did was move the arm around in max and do a render. No lengthening of the arms was done and absolutely NO animal testing! Well ok...a little animal testing, but only on the second tuesday of each week! lol
Believe it or not guys MCM2 depends a LOT more on the CPU and memory than it does the video card. Sure, with a better video card, you get better graphics overall. But render speed is not the bottle-neck that gives you lag on tracks.
M/M...good to know about the Nvidia cards...although I don't think Glen (VMX_PanicRev) who has a new 6800GT has any problems running MCM2 with any tracks at all. But I'm trying to make a decision on what video card to buy after Xmas...and I think I'm going to go with an ATI X850XT Platinum Edition. I looked all over the web and from what I can tell nobody's card is running the kind of speeds that that one is stock!
(Core Clock= 540MHz; Memory Clock= 1180MHz plus it's got 16 pipelines instead of 8 like the new Nvidia cards)
Plus, I have an ASUS P4P800E Deluxe motherboard that doesn't support PCI-Express cards...so the 6800 series is as far as I can go with the Nvidia cards. So I think I'll be buying the ATI. ;)
Well... tell me, is there anything I can tell peeps who are laggin' real bad on hi-res stuff? What kind of advice could I pass on to get the lag out?
Unfortunately any advice to 'get the lag out' would most likely involve the word "UPGRADE". Anyone with anything less than a 1.5Ghz CPU or 512Mb of Ram (pc2700 or above) will most likely need to upgrade to get past the 'hump'. Really...if you're an avid gamer, you're going to NEED to have a more robust computer to even be able to run the newer games.
Of course, there are the exhisting MCM2 recommended tweaks that help to be able to run MCM2 better...but MCM2 is not the only 'fish' in the sea. Dell and other hi-volume computer builders most all have $300 pc packages and they pretty much all would run MCM2 with hi-def tracks.
It's also worth it to note that some lag problems can be caused by simply needing to update drivers. Most people update their video drivers but never think about updating AUDIO drivers. Believe it or not...I've had first-hand experience with outdated audio drivers. They can cause your whole pc to crash. Just ask Cr! So updating ALL drivers (video, audio, monitor, and bios) on a regular basis is advisable and may be the only obsticle keeping some people from enjoying their PC's to the utmost.
Actually OC is they guy to ask about this stuff...he's the one guy I can say most definately knows PC's inside-out.
I would have to say that most lag is caused by extra stuff running on your computer. A hi-def track causes your cpu, memory system, hard disk, and video card to do more work and it may put over the edge with the extra stuff that you are running. Running a higher resolution and frame rate will cause you to notice problems also. There are many problems with your computer setup that could cause random pauses. If you have ever tried to create a new folder in Explorer and had a lengthy wait for it to time out because of something it was doing, you wil understand that those same pauses can happen while playing a game. So it's important that your system functions well when not playing a game.
PC's running without using vsync will cause their frame rates to be quite variable. Your PC may not have any problem running 70 FPS sync'ed with your monitor but have a hard time keeping up with running an unleashed 150 or more fps. Running a consistent 70 will seem less laggy than running something which has frame rates that vary from say 80 to 200. Even though the 80-200 setup will always run faster than the 70 it's inconsistency will make you feel like you are having problems.
I keep mine synced with my monitor. I also run 800x600 resolution. When I race online I run 640x480.
Runing twice the resolution of 640x480 (1280x960) is actually 4 times the work. 800x600 is 1.5 times the work of 640x480.
My best advice is to have a clean reliable running system, use vsync, run minimum resolution that you are happy with, and lower the level of detail in the game until the lag goes away. If you aren't happy with the levels that you have to run at to get clean frame rates than you have to upgrade.
I have an AMD 3200+, 400FSB, 1Gig PC3200, ATI 9800 Pro. Runs sweet all the time full detail, shadows, and particles.

Yep he's right... Paul helpt me figure my crashing problem out (wich I had for about 8 months, ALL 3d games would make the system reboot), after me and Paul where looking on the ATI site for hours turned out to be the audio drivers :S
I hope a fix comes soon for the High Res tracks in D2... I just started working on one... wanted to open in D2... acces violation popped up to... :(
Sorry for the delay in replying but i am busy at work at the moment and in the middle of buying a house so time is short. I just opened a 6x6 track with no problem so something else is causing the problem. I am going to take a look at it today and i hope i can get back to you soon.
MM not sure why you're objects aren't showing up, i'll look into that as well, I see you have some other folders under the objects resource tree, are they in there? Resources are searced for in the UserModels folder and any of the first level of folder under the UserModels folder.
My take on the HiDef tracks is that they are basically the same as 6x6 tracks (Enduro,Baja etc) but more of the polys in the terrain are rendered in any one frame. So there is about twice as many polys to render, which you could compensate for by using less objects/trees if it is a very high poly count track. Or as Bruce say reduce your detail settings..

Thanks cR i have it. I made a 2.0 grid stunt and it loaded, i also made a std stunt map and it also loaded, so i really don't see why it isn't working for you. I didn't have a spline or objects and a stock sky, but since all those things work in other formats i don't see why the HiDefs should cause these problems.
Can you guys load Sx or Nats with this version of D2?
I'll try out cR's track and see what happens. I just hope it's not a hardware issue, i'm using nVidia on my laptop ..

Ok i found the Stunt map problem and have it fixed but before i release an update i would like to find out whats causing MM's missing objects.
As a workaround to load HiDefs go into the SCN file and edit the 'EventType=Quarry' line and change it to 'EventType=Baja'. That should fix the problem in D2 until i release an update, not sure how Dillo will react to it i don't see a reason why it should matter to Dillo either though.

the new dillo too only let you see those objects that i placed one time in dillo 1

this is something i wanted to mention in the release notes, i had a lot of complaints from new users saying that they couldn't open new projects with Open button (a lot of people thought that the New button was for creating new projects not opening them) so i have now made the Open button open PRJs as well as ENVs. I am hoping that i will be able to create New projects soon and the New button will be used for that. The short answer is use the Open button instead of the New button to open all track files.

That shouldn't be happening there should be no way for Dillo to affect the SLTs so that D2 can only find them after they have been placed in D2. Since you use a lot of Custom objects i'm thinking that you use APM to process some of your tracks, so maybe APM is moving the objects that you have placed in Dillo to a place where D2 can find them. That makes me think that there might be something wrong with the folder structure you're using for the trackeditor, or maybe a wrong registry entry for MCM2 somewhere since that is how D2 finds the folders it needs to use.
Have you manually moved MCM2 to another folder or done something to the original installation folders?

Actually Laurie I tried opening a couple of Hi Def projects that I have got in the works and it just looks like the new version of D2 doesn't support them. Not sure what could have happened because I had them both open in the previous version. So it definately looks like a problem that needs to be addressed.
I have no idea why M/M isn't able to see his objects....that's just wierd...I'll bet your right though...he must have reorganized his folders or something.
Paul i have found the problem, although i don't know how it happened looks like i changed something i didn't need to but here is a temp. solution:

D:\spill\Mcm2\TrackEditor\UserModels (has allways worked)
M/M it's amazing to me first off that it EVER worked with previous versions of D2 not to mention that the original Armadillo worked or that APM as well worked with that deep of a file address.
In fact...I thought that MCM2 had to be on the C drive...
But in any case I'd say that is your problem. Try installing MCM2 to D:\MCM2 and put the editor in D:\MCM2\TrackEditor and usermodels underneath that. It shouldn't be a big deal to install MCM2 to that location and just move your usermodels stuff over...then delete it. That way you won't lose any project files or anything else.
Now that I know MCM2 and everything else can run on the D drive...I think I'll be moving all my stuff to the D drive...my C drive is darn near full and there is TONS of space on the D drive.
That's the same path that i use, except for the \spill\ so i'm not sure that is the problem - though it could be.
1) Do these models show up in the older versions of D2?
2) Is the 'Read only' box checked in the file properties box for the models that don't show up?
You got me stumped MM don't see why it doesn't work.
3) Can you also tell me how the TD_lods don't work, is it just in D2 when you load them or in game after you have packed them?
4) What exactly do you do and what happens when you try to load the TD_lods into D2?

I was having the same problem with d2 at MM and cR were having. So post when you upload then new d2.

Phil you choose the MXU overlay textures (and the stock ones for that matter) now from the new SCENE tab...check it out and you'll find it..the categorys have drop-down menu's.
problem i have , is i got all the mxu objects installed, started dillotoo97.3, and got a violation message, to do with the dillotoo97.3 exe file. i was not able to run mcm2 or armadillo after i installed the mxu objects. before i installed the object's i was able to run dillotoo97.3 with out any problems at all. to get over the problem, i removed all the mxu objects from the folder. then had to place the original mcm2 res folder back into mcm2.as well as replacing the mxu_res file's.
and every thing is running as normal again. am i right in thinking that the mxu_object's go into the res folder in mcm2 ?. during the time i had mxu object's installed they did show in dillotoo97.3.
i was not able to load a track in, to see how they looked. i don't know if this will be any help to

footnote, the track i am working on is national lowres track. gridsize 6.0.
the mxu_res object files go in the UserModels folder Not the REs folder but that's interesting feedback Chris.
the problem with the HiDef tracks is D2 doesn't recognize stunt maps from the scn file however if you use the workaround or start with a baja track D2 97.3 will work oh.

Phil I think he is talking about changing the Event Type=Quarry to Event Type=Baja. You will find that file in your project folder Allen...it should be located somewhere like C:\MCM2\TrackEditor\Projects\ and then either NATS or SX. The SCN file will be named the same as your project i.e. mytrack.scn.
The first time you open it you may have to set it to open with Notepad. Then all your SCN files will have the white/blue notepad icon on them. So they will be easier to spot. Hope this gets you up and running Allen.

M/M, can you take a couple screen shots of your usermodels folder that show the objects listed that don't show up in D2? It would be most helpfull to see the file tree as well (C:\MCM2\TrackEditor\Usermodels...).
