MXU the gift that keeps on giving..
Well today we finally roll out the last of the MXU National track conversions. It's been hard to keep focus with all the new stuff that's going on at the moment, but here they for all you virtual MX riders who want one last blast on MCM2 before we put it down for a couple of weeks. ![]() Apologies to the FMX guys I was hoping that we could convert the MXU FMX tracks but events have overtaken us... Big thanks to Jeff who did a lot of the work, and Fixer who converted SlackJaw, to the TD team who tested the tracks and myself who did a few bits and pieces around the place, hope you enjoy them. Note: there is a new MXU Eco.Res available from the download page please get it now otherwise some of the tracks will not look their best. Take me to the tracks! MXU [Eco] Res files Have fun! Laurie
One thing I've always enjoyed doing was watching how others use the tools that we use to make tracks. It's always amazed me that there are so many ways to do stuff. I first noticed this when i bought Noel's (N-Graf-X) tutorial cd. I was amazed with the ease that he did stuff. When I visited Mike McCue I was amazed to watch him at work. Well now you get to see Paul (ElDiablo) make Leveller do magic. Here's what Paul has to say:
"I have been asked for quite some time to put together a tutorial on Leveller. Well..I decided to finally give it a shot. This was captured/recorded with TechSmith's SnagIt (demo version) and edited with MS Movie Maker 2.0. It follows only ONE of many ways to create tracks using Leveller and Photoshop (or your favorite graphic program with layers). This is how I make my displacement maps. Once you get used to Leveller I encourage you to play around and try new things and find out what works best for YOU. There are other tutorials out there...and if you really want to be good with Leveller I would tell you to try them ALL. Paul (ElDiablo)" You can get it here: http://www.twisteddirt.com/tutorials.php Enjoy, Bruce
MCM 2 lovers it may be time to put that worn out MCM 2 CD away. It appears that we'll finally get a much needed update. MX vs ATV Unleashed is coming to the PC. Check out this post in the forum.
PR: MXvsATV coming to the PC and PSP Bruce
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!!
Well...lots of people have asked for something more like MXStatic...so I put this one together just like I did MXStatic...it was designed and layed out in the same way. Then I decided to go one better and do it in HIGH DEFINITION this time. I did some new things with textures in 3D Max that makes the ruts really seem to jump out at you (bumpmapping). This is a wfo/tech style nat. So far the best lap in testing was a 1:27 run by VRT_RideBlue (Dave). That is seriously smokin' and if you get anywhere around that you can consider yourself an MCM pro! lol Just wanted to put something out for the holiday and this track presented itself at the right time. You'll have to look around for the other little extras...there's a Turkey in there hangin' out to 'gobble' at you when you finish each lap. Enough of my dribble...happy holidays...download this track, rip it up and if you feel like it...post back here and tell me what you like/dislike so I can keep tailoring the tracks to my audience. ElDiablo (Paul) Thanks to all my testers (you know who you are) and my co-horts at TD for all the help and continued friendship. Enjoy! You can get it here: MX Static 2.0 Turkey Creek If you don't have it you will also need the latest eco.res file, which you can get here: MXU Res files Have fun, Bruce ![]()
It didn't take long for Paul to release his first track at Twisted DIRT. Here is what Paul said about it, "It's mostly WFO with a little tech tossed in for good measure". I call it WFO with options. It is easy to make small mistakes and not have to pay big (ie. crash). While you are riding it, you may be distracted by the amazing sky cube. Here is what Paul has to say about that, "I used 12 digital elevation maps (DEM's) of the Yosemite Valley area that I downloaded from the US Geological Survey website and stitched together to make the terrain for the cube. I made a few minor adjustments and I think the end result turned out a fairly dramatic terrain."
Awesome track. You can get it here: Full Speed Ahead If you don't have it you will also need the latest eco.res file, which you can get here: MXU Res files Have fun, Bruce ![]()
DIZ_No_Rebase stopped by the forums to let us know who the lucky people are that Rainbow Studios have hired as track designers. You can read who the new track designers are here.
Congratulations, Bruce
We're really not dead even though it may look that way. A few of us are still alive and kicking.
![]() Sorry about the long delay but we are happy to announce that we finally finished off the last of the MXU Supercross tracks (SX 20-24). As far as the MXU Nationals, we're still working on those and have recently made a lot of progress. Each track just needs the finishing touches applied and then they can be released. I'm not sure how long it will take but it will happen. For now, I hope you enjoy these SX tracks while you wait. Follow the links to the download pages to grab them: MX Unleashed for MCM 2 Jeff
