So here's my deal dudes, I'm new to the PC world and have been playing reflex on xbox for the longest time. You see my childhood track (Podium 1) in Indiana has been closed since 2013 and I've been feeling pretty nostalgic about it for awhile and I want to give it a go at rebuilding it to it's former glory. I work with 3D modeling for a living, I'm a surveyor, so I'm pretty familiar with height-maps and I should also mention that KTM6060 has helped me there with his awesome video tutorial on the matter.  So allow me to get to the point... where do I go from here?! I guess what i'm asking for is if any of you have an easy enough explanation on building jumps and obstacles over top of the existing terrain? Am I overthinking it? Are the amount of questions becoming absurd? what is the meaning of life? Please, just someone help me, you're my only hope.

Well, basically that's just reflex track making from there so I'd recommend reading through C4's document or watching AL167's videos. They may be a bit old and outdated but they give you the basics of track making (->how DE works)
You can also add me on STEAM if you have any questions.

Yes.

I'm famous!!! ;D ;D ;D

(well kinda, maybe, I guess not....  :'()

Anyways, you can build your jumps and stuff in PS, or there's a terrain editor called Daylon Leveller (whichs cost $50), or you could do it the JamieT way and make the heightmap in 3DS Max, but I'd recommend that you start off in PS and watch Al167's tutorial videos(as Ds19 stated above), it'll take a lot of trail and error to learn how it works, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Right on man, will do. I watch a bit of his vids, i guess it works much the same way when working on actual terrain instead of a flat supercross base? just levels of shade and what not. I'll get to work. haha
