The EST files for the first set of released nationals are now available for download. Just unzip them into the 'TrackEditor\EcoSystem' folder. They can be used with Dillo or Dillo Too. As we finish more of the remakes and the remaining ESTs get more testing they will also be released.


You must have the TD MXU Extended RES files installed before you can use them, and if you use them in your track then you will also have to make it clear to other track downloaders that they will need the TD MXU Extended RES files installed before they can run the track.

Not all of the trees were in the environment.  A lot of them were hand placed objects...

hi i got a second question is there a pallet whit color codes  because i miss place the trees allot in dillo2 so i really want to place trees in dillo 1

go get the latest version of D2, i think laurie sorted the acuracy out for veg placement on the latest version.

Hmm not sure but I think there are some vegetation tutorials on placing them, go to the main page and on the left or right should be tutorials...

There are no palette colors for the new eco systems but you should be able to place them in Dillo if you want, although i have never tried. I think i know what you mean by palette colors something to do with placement maps it shouldn't be too difficult to work them out from the EST files for each new set.

! IMPORTANT !

I just noticed a small problem with the ESTs that were released. All the trees with Collision have it set to GEOMETRY, this means riders will crash into the leaves. I have updated the ESTs to include collision data so that only the tree trunks have collision. Please use the new link above to download the new EST files.

Copy them into your 'TrackEditor\EcoSystem' folder. Just copying the files isn't going to change the trees in your projects you need to use D2 to update the EcoSystem in your tracks. Go to the Eco System tab then select the new EST file in the EcoSystem drop down list and press the button (the tree with a yellow arrow next to it) on the right of the drop down list - D2 will ask if you're sure press 'Yes'.

I noticed another problem, or maybe its just me that have the problem. When I place the trees in Armadillo, most of the trees shows up on the perimeter.

I have that problem too.  I always placed trees in dillo and then added some in specific spots with d2.  But now I have to do em all in d2 which isnt bad.  ;)

hmm, i think maybe the ESTs need some more tweaking, it looks like the Slope settings are set way too flat for the trees to get placed in the track tile (because it's hilly) but since your perimeter tile is totally flat it can place them there.

Try opening the EST in NotePad (or your text editor of choice) and change the settings for the following lines.

MeanSlope=0.222222
StandardDeviationSlope=0.222222

I just looked in the SnowForest.Est and these values are set to 20:

MeanSlope=20
StandardDeviationSlope=20

I think this controls the maximum angle of slope that the tree will be placed on - 0.2222 is pretty flat.

I think that's the answer to your question, if you're talking about the actual nat track, not just the objects or vegetation.

This is probably not the best thread to talk about this (off topic) but I'll mention it anyways.  The nats will be delayed for quite some time.  Bob's (Fixer) motherboard fried and he's trying to get back up to speed.  Since he was pretty much handling the animations, there no sense in moving forward with the nats until he is ready again.  BTW, he is going to do Nat07 when he gets everything sorted out.

So...I've decided to just push forward with the SX tracks.  I'm going to try to finish them as soon as possible, but probably no faster than 1-2 per week at best.

To answer the question about palette colors, yes, you can make a placment map just like you could with the stock trees, just count the number of veggies in the file you wanna use, edit the palette for your track_place.bmp and you're good to go. The only one I've used so far is MXU_nat05.

You can use any colors you want but here is my setup for nat05. It may look like 8 and 9 didn't generate but those are the grass sprigs.
