Greetings to everyone, this is actually my very first post!

I've been playing Reflex for quite some time (and MCM2 since forever) and love the game. I've never played online since internet connection in my country is downright lame. However, I too suffer from the famous "slomo" bug. When I play freeride, my fps is quite high. But start racing with the 12 computer opponents, that's when I feel like a kid who's just had his ice cream roosted by Ronnie Mac  :o

So I've noticed that when I play career mode, there's a race that's categorized as "Elimination", where you only race against 2-3 computer opponents. When I played this I realized that the computer's fps was no different than playing mono-freeride. Perfect! Just what I needed! Sadly it's only select for that mode  :'(

Therefore, I was hoping if anybody knew how to edit the number of ai's in single player? I remembered MCM2 had this option where you could select the number of computer opponents you wished to race against. It would be cool if someone could make a mod or a patch file where we can choose the number of ai opponents in single player. This will without a doubt solve the fps lag issues that many of us experience.

Hope anybody can give me some insight!

Thanx

If I knew how to mod Reflex and hack into the files lie JamieT does, I would do this go ahead and do this. But sadly I'm not JamieT or JamieT #2, so at the moment I sadly cannot help. But I do believe that anyone with JamieT's knowledge could create a mod for this feature without it being too difficult.

Yeah, I guess any of us with the ability to mod the game will mod the game  :P

I'm not intereted in doing any of the so called "hacks", I just want to be able to have a fluid experience playing one of my favorite games without the silly "slomo" bug (as I'm sure many would) by adjusting/limiting the number of A.I opponents in single player race (like in MCM2), as I have seen that this drastically improves gameplay for those suffering from the bug.

I don't really know how mods work or if there are any settings in any of the game files to alter this, but I really hope someone could create a mod patch or separate game file that we could just insert into the game folder that allows us to select the number of opponents. Besides, when we're racing, we're always trying to get to first place and never look back anyway right  :P

It isn't really a bug.  The Reflex AI is cpu intensive.  Performance is better with a video card with more bits in the memory interface.  Nvidia cards need lots of CUDA cores. You need a certain level of cpu and video card for reasonable performance.  Certain tracks also have more details in the displacement map/shadow map and really put a strain on your system.   Normally you can help out your system but changing the resolution but for Reflex that doesn't make much difference because it seems to render at a certain resolution and scale to the resolution that you are using.

What cpu and video card do you have?  For any given system the ways to improve performance of games is to make them do less work.  With Reflex your options are limited.  Throwing hardware at it is the one that works the best.
