Dear admins, members, users, etc.

I just need a liitle help with DigitalEarthWorks, when I have done my track edit etc. and I want to compile it as beta track I am always looking at the logs if any errors occure, so far no errors occure but the logs and compiling stucks at the "Saving track fileset". I need your help I was trying and searching through the forum and I found one topic with game having the same problem but it wasn't solved so I will have to make a topic. I have even a right path for the saving "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MX vs ATV Reflex\database" but it is still stucked. I even tried to move my database files from database folder in Mx vs Atv Reflex game. Didn't work, but yesterday it was wroking, I could compile beta tracks etc.

My question is there a way how we could change the folder or directory were the compiled beta tracks files are being saved?
or is there some fix for this?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Midas67

Saving track fileset

There is no way to change the save directory in DE, you might be able to trick it into using a different folder using the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Strawberry\DigitalEarthworks\options

and setting the ReflexRootPath (you might need to create it) value to the folder that you want DE to save to. Warning: Only do this if you are comfortable with editing the registry since a mistake editing the registry can make your system unusaeable.

You would be telling DE this is where to find the game files, and unless you copy most of the game files across the same folder, will cause more problems.

Are you running DE as administrator? That might be why it gets stuck, if DE doesn't have permission to write to the Reflex folder, because by the time you see the line 'saving track file set' all the hard work has been done and it is just saving files from memory to your HD.

Also make sure any beta files already in that folder aren't set to Read Only.

I tried to run it with administrator permissions. No change stil stuck at "Saving track fileset".

There are no previous or older beta files because I have deleted them as I made some upgrades to the track.

as I have said yesterday it was all working fine, today I started PC and then DE tried to compile and from that moment it is getting always stuck at "Saving track fileset".

I might try the registry but if there is some easier way to go with I will be more than happy to use registry as my last option. :)

I would like t understand the problem as well, the only thing that happens after the message "Saving track fileset" is saving the data in memory to the HD. The only thing that would stop it is your HD full, file or folder permissions, possibly a virus scanner or a bug in DE, but I can't see where a bug could be.

Can you give more details about the track you're trying to save? How many objects are there? Is it a Nat or Sx? From the Log it looks like it's just the terrain with no objects. Did you make changes to your system around the time that DE started to have problems - if yes what? What's you're version of windows?

Midas67

HDD isn't full it has still 30GB left to use.

I turned off anti-virus while compiling to see if that isn't a problem but no effect.

It is just a plain track I have made with some jumps.

No objects.

I didn't make any changes to system if an installation of game doesn't count as a system change.

Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit

Thanks i'll try the files out myself to see what I get.

Installing another game might be something that changed your system, can I ask which game it was, do you know which version of DX it uses?

Midas67

Game I installed is named Deadpool.

DX version can use 9,10, and 11

Must admit i'm stumped, how much memory do you have in your system. It sounds a bit like you're running out of memory with it working 1 minute but not the next

Midas67

#9
It is

Installed Memory (RAM): 16.0GB (15.4GB usable)

hmm that's not it then - unless you have a lot of stuff running in the background...

Midas67

No the memory is used on like 5% all the time

I'm really not sure what the problem is here since like i said before all that happens after the last log entry is data in memory is dumped to file. I still feel it has something to do with permissions, i can add some more log comments after each file to see which file is causing the problem.
