Hey guys, ive always had this since i got reflex and was always annoying but i got used to it but now i was trying to record a video and it is there when i record to so can some one help me with what this is?

Fixer

video 'tearing' is usually the graphic card drivers, I'd try updating them

LOGANYZ125

i updated it and it didnt work could it be my directx because when i go to the DXdiag it has a error message and then i have to close it.

mcm2boys

hmm never seen that before, what gfx card are you using? Can you show a video of what happens to that tear as you move through the terrain?

LOGANYZ125

http://gyazo.com/c788d3313c5a4aeec7d42b7406a336d5 Theres a GIF of it because youtube is being horribly slow.....and a GTX 750ti i was on the phone with CYBERPOWER yesterday and my direct X is completley took a crap they cant firgure out why its having an error im going to have to factory reset my pc so ill let you know if it still happens after that.

Though the quality isn't great you can clearly see the edges of the patches as they are rendered to screen, somthing is going wrong with the calculation of the edge vertices and that work takes place in the shaders on the gfx card so my guess is there is something wrong with the card - though DX could also have an effect. Do you have a problem with any other titles?

LOGANYZ125

Nope i can run any other game i have almost max graphics and no terrain glitchs.....

mcm2boys

Is it all tracks or just custom tracks? Both fullscreen and windowed?

Could you take some Screen shots by rotating the camera around the rider to see how the tearing changes?

Have you got any non-default settings in the control panel for the card?

i was trying to figure that out and its mostly like flat tracks like sx track but tracks like rubicon dont do it like tracks with more elevation.

As for the control panel settings i do  have custom settings for the card...

I have the same issue on a new comp with a gtx 970. Some tracks run fine with no tearing, but on Rubicon for example, it's really bad, it follows you all around the track.

I found a thread on the steam forum with other people who have the same issue with this graffix card:

Thanks for the link, so it looks like it's a problem with these cards and Reflex, are there glitches in any of the object renders or is it just the terrain?

Ok thanks, maybe there is something that can be done with the terrain shader to stop this from happening on this card - at least for custom tracks.

I wouldn't know where to start with trying different settings in the Nvidia control settings. Any suggestions?

Looking around the net, this looks like a few titles are having similar problems with this gfx card series. I've read that people have limited success lowering the clocks for cpu and memory, but also some people have had the units replaced and the problem continues, and some people have swapped back to earlier series gfx cards with the same drivers and the problem goes away.

It makes me think that there is a problem with the hardware, but if it doesn't affect other titles then there may be a possible fix through the game as well..

I didn't realise there was an issue with this card before I bought it.  I hope Nvidia release an update to fix any issues.  It seems like they've upset a lot of people.

I can't say for sure it is a problem with the card, it may just be that the drivers need more work to work well with the new hardware.

St. Angers Snare

I think it's something to do with select nVidia cards. I went from a 7950 to a 970 and as soon as I launched Reflex with my new GPU it did this. I have the newest drivers. I've found that running around the practice track and crashing a few times can make it go away, especially for multiplayer. My friend has a 970 as well and his game does this.

Another bug I have found is when recording and minimizing the game, i'll reopen it and sometimes the terrain will literally turn into peaks and will pierce through riders and will make huge holes and mountains right in front of me. Then that will progress to riders with no heads and when you crash you lay on the ground with a black screen (die,LOL)

I have an AMD CPU as well if there is any correlation of running AMD and nVidia together.

DirtTwister

I just got a new laptop today.  An ASUS i7 with a GTX 850M video card.  When I started up Reflex this happens in the Lobby.  It goes away when the race starts.  I'll play around with is some to see if I can figure out a setting to change that helps the problem.  I tried different resolutions and it happened on all of them.

mcm2boys

Does the 850M use the same core technology as the 970s?
