Seems to be working fine for me.  As long as you're logged in it should work no problem.

I have upload a beta version of the stewart compound..http://reflex-central.com/track_profile.php?track_id=4

I hope you like it ;D
I just tested your track and I have to admit - it's awesome. The SX track (the dark red one) is a masterpiece. Probably the best one so far  ;D
I hope you will continue the work on the compound.

The compound looks great the only thing that really needs work are the textures its a bit odd how the sand wears away to grass. also add some dark lines like those in the sg compound

JamieT

Flarer245,
The reason for the sand wearing away to grass, is because the grass texture is set to the Base (Black) Channel.  If you swap them around, and put your grass into the Red, Green or Blue channel, it should fix that problem.

hey flarer#245, that looks like motobosses js compound from mx simulator. ive already asked him if i could release that for reflex, and he just plainly said no....and he would rather release it himself one day. people dont like it when you relese there work, even if its for another game. but....
mcm2boys has said he will put the alive version in reflex, so hopefully that will happen soon!!!!

On another note i have js7 compund from mxsim on my pc already but i just wont release it.
if your converting mxsim tracks for reflex,  you can use the shading map from mxsim for your crmlum alpha chanel , and also use the shading map in this case as the topdown and main image for the crm lum, you can also use the skybox images and join them all up to make a 4096 x 1024 image. also just another hint, the standard textures in digital earthworks are the alive textures from the js7 compound!

I've just had a look at a video of the MXS version, and I have to agree that it does look very much like Motoboss's track.  I'm sorry Flarer245, but the track has been removed from the site.

Thanks for the heads up Al.  Sorry if anyone is disapointed that the track has been deleted, but plagarism is not cool kids! :)

JamieT

Here's a track I've been working on for the past few months.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reflex Central is now open to anyone who wants to upload finished tracks, and also beta tracks.  Functionality for the site is now complete with regards to the uploading / downloading functions.  If you find any bugs, please send me a Personal Message via this forum, and I will look into it.  Hopefully you guys will get stuck in, start creating tracks, and get them uploaded! :)

jizwizard

just a shame reflex is no more for the time being  :'(

JamieT

What do you mean 'no more'?  I know that THQ has shut down, but we still have the game, and tools to make tracks! :D

jizwizard

but no multiplayer though. all well and good having the tools to play the tracks but nobody to play with

JamieT

Hmmm you're right!...  :-\ I think this has to do with the franchise changing hands.  The auction for the MX ATV brand should be happening within the next few days.  Maybe it has already happened, but hasn't been announced yet?...  After that, the company who picks it up should re-initiate the servers on steam, as those are one of the responsibilities for whoever wants to be the new owner.  Hopefully mulitplayer will be back sooner rather than later, but I'm confident that it WILL be back! :)

JamieT

It seems so...  When you click multiplayer from the main menu, it says that "The MX vs ATV server is unavailable at this time - Please try again later."  I'm sure things will be resolved by the new owners.  Hopefully this is an indication that THQ no longer holds responsibilty for the servers, and that the property has already been sold.  There is probably some kind of admin process with the transfer of ownership which will cause such a delay.

mcm2boys

I don't run the game very often at the moment but i just gave it a spin and got the message. Hmm, i didn't expect that, i thought Steam would trade the server usage for the ad revenue and a slice of the game sale. Hope there are some new owners that want to keep the franchise alive.. better take a look at the Steam API..

JamieT

Yeah I thought that too... That Steam would take a cut of the profits in order to pay the costs. But I supose that as sales drop, there will still be people playing online, so in the long run, that business model wouldn't quite work.  Apparently the PS3 servers are down, and the DLC store for Alive on Xbox is down, but multiplayer is still up for Alive on xbox.

In those documents I posted, No. 2 - Bidding procedures, under the heading Participant requirements, section (d) says: "Written evidence that the Bidder has the necessary financial ability to close the contemplated transaction and provide adequate assurance of future performance of all obligations to be assumed in such contemplated transaction, reasonably acceptable to the Debtors."

If THQ had a contractual obligation with Steam, Sony, or XBox Live, to continue the multiplayer servers for X amount of time, then the new owners will have to continue that.  Once those contracts are up, then it's definitely possible that the servers will be shut down.

I think that one day eventually we probably will need to set up our own server, and I think Allan was looking into this a while back.  But as for the moment, I think this is just temporary.

Also, the deadline for the final bids is April 15th. So I think next week we'll find out who's taken the reigns.  We just have to hope that it's a company who is behind the franchise 100%.

jizwizard

there are a couple of players and ex employees getting together to hopefully come up with something but I cant find the link

JamieT

Yeah I think I saw the article you're refering to. I think it's this one?...

http://www.polygon.com/2013/2/27/4035056/mx-vs-atv-franchise-developers-express-interest-in-the-series-future

It's certainly possible that those guys that got laid off by THQ would reform, and purchase the IP, but I'm putting my money on 2XL games being the strongest candidate for the purchase.  Reason being, a lot of the guys there used to work at Rainbow Studios on the early MX games.  It's possible that the developers of MUD, Milestone may take an interest, but as they've already invested so much into building their own mx game engine, I don't see it being likely.  They could certainly use the physics engine though, and put it to good use. :)  I've heard people kick Codemasters name into the hat also, but they've recently stopped development on everything except the F1 games and the upcoming GRID 2, so they don't look to be in a good way financially right now. Besides those guys, I don't think there's anyone else that's shown an interest in off-road racing games is there...?  :-\

Been rl filming allot since my first track release, I had some down time so I started working on another track....well, now Im kinda bummed with the "recent" news (to me at least). Did some catching up and so far this is what I got. Reflex server is offline, Nordic purchased the ip and promises to look into it. And with all the  research Ive done there are no "Custom Servers" out there or even been worked on. So I guess the question is...do we (track builders) continue or move on....And will the awesome TD Team continue to support Reflex? This sux because I seriously love the tools available now. And the community has been nothing but helpful.

JamieT

Welcome back to the scene Poidog! :)

Yeah it's pretty unfortunate that the servers have been down for well over a month now.  The sale was finalised by the courts last week, so hopefully Nordic are making some gains to get things back up and running again.  They bought a heck of a lot of IPs from THQ, so they've probably got a lot on their plate right now, maybe more than they can handle...

I think it's still too early to give up on Reflex.  Personally, the servers going down hasn't really affected me too much.  I'll still be playing this game even if the servers never come back online.  I just love to work on my own tracks and that's where I get the most enjoyment out of this game.  It would be a shame if the development on the editor were to stop, but it's understandable if the popularity of Reflex were to drop off.

I think, just ride it out.  The servers will be back at some point! :)
