Looking at your tut i'm wondering if it would be easier if the scale setting when you import the height map, was changed to the absolute height of pure white in your map. So you can plan the height map based on a maximum height instead of guessing some random scaling amount?

i actually havent built a track to any exact heght scales yet. i do mention in tutorial 2 how to scale the height perfectly and i know jamie T does do it in his 1:1 scale tracks. the way i scale mine is i just adjust the heights so they feel and flow right. for my replicas i use google earth as a template for layout and scale (i use the google earth measuring tool) and watch the go pro footage from the races and on youtube a million times and try and copy them the best i can.

i think i know what you mean with a absolute max and min height setting that you can adjust. it would probably make it a little easier, but probably not worth the time invested on your behalf. I dont think its important, the people that want true height scales will figure it out.

what im trying to say is it probably would be good, but..... put it at the bottom of the to-do list for the reflex editor, theres fifty things like (models, raceable tracks, piro, twisted dirt loading screen, track selection menu pic ect) id love before that one!!!

gotta love the pefectionist in ya though. lol

cheers al

It's a small thing, just calculating the scale value from the height values and then using that, i'll add it to the list. The models, at least for beta testers, aren't too far away now..

I started painting my first Reflex track on Sunday...

I was hoping for objects, spline & GUI beta slot loader tool gizmo thingy by New Years!

This is good news!

On the scaling issue,  I think Laurie's suggestion would be a good idea for new people using the tool, as I found this element to be some what confusing when I first started making reflex tracks. I just assumed that a higher value would mean a higher terrain, but saying that, it didn't take me too long to figure out that it was the opposite. It just meant I had to do some experimenting.

An alternative would be, to just include a small piece in the help file, detailing what the 'scale' value actually does, and explain that maximum terrain height = 2048ft,  divided by 'scale'.

In my opinion, the more user friendly option, would be to have users enter a value, that they wish to have for their maximum terrain height.

Do it for Mx simulator too , should be fun yahyahyah ;D ;D ;D
Just dont work well if you do very very big walls , nevertheless is possible jump "walls" in Mx sim too.
