The title pretty says all, i just want to ask TD-Team , how the heck you edited ' MX_Camera.bxml ' file.

I play this game for a while now, and wish there was a camera in this position like the one in the image :

http://s10.postimage.org/6mstfr58n/MXReflex.png    - sorry the image quality -

I have searched the forum, and found that Razmatazz asked too, (which wasn't even answered).

I actually know how to convert BXML to XML , but repacking  :-X another story,. Which is exactly what TD-Team did.

So, please answer this time.

I actually know how to convert BXML to XML , repacking... another story,

al167

that pic looks like the standard reflex first person camera but taken when you lean back.  have you tried the custom cameras i  the download section? i havnt played with them them so i dont know exactly what they look like.

ManModz

Yes the photo is indeed from standard FPView while leaning.

I tried all cameras/views from download section, they just seem to affect FOv from 'User' & 'Gameplay' camera,
not what i pretend though.

mcm2boys

Sorry there is no BXML editor and no plans to build or release one.. A camera position editor might be an option but that will be a way down the line..

Laurie

ManModz

It's ok there wont be any direct editor..
But somehow, (which nobody seems to want explain), staff Unpacked/Edited/Repacked successfully those files so..

JamieT

The reason it hasn't been explained is because there are other files, such as the physics code which are also bxml format. The general feeling on these forums, is that, if anyone could edit bxml files, it would ruin online competition, as it would mean that anyone could cheat by giving the bikes more power, better handling etc.

ManModz

It's just sad to read such thing, of course there will be people that will increase power, ridiculous physics etc

but whats the point of shadowing such thing ? personally I only mod offline, it would be good even for other games with the same system.

It's just nonsense. like, why !? god sake.

So please TD-Staff (that really knows how to Unpack/Edit/Repack bxml), if you read this,
just explain once and for all...

Fixer

It can't be explained any better than 'JamieT' already has,  once the files are editable by everyone, it kills the online racing regardless of the benefits for some it destroys the game for everyone else

ManModz

Is the online community that big or it's just, selfishness.?

I'm in a lost battle , ill keep searching though :)

Thanks to all

JamieT

I'm just guessing here, but I imagine that in order to write programs such as "XML to BXML", you would need a very high level understanding of system op-codes, file encyrption and so on. If you wanted to make a program like this yourself, these are some of the things you would have to research. The guys here, have probably built up this knowledge through many years of experience, and are not going to just gift this knowledge to just anyone, regardless of their intentions. Even if they did explain exactly how they did it, I doubt the average man would be able understand it, let alone use it.

You may feel that they are being selfish, by not sharing their knowledge, but it really is for the greater good of this game. The fact is, that physics are a very important part of racing games, and the TD Team want to keep this integrity intact.

I know you will be very disapointed to hear this, but the abilty for "anybody" to edit bxml files, like they can, will never be let loose by the team.

What that line in Spiderman? "With great power, comes great responsibility" Something like that... Well TD have a responsibility to keep their knowledge away from the wrong hands.

ManModz

I'm totally understanding (what you said)their point.
however, I'm not disappointed since it's just a game. ;]

not much to say in the end due to lack of arguments

I dont play the game but I couldn't agree any more , in other words , i hope that that never happens , that no one can change them , that ruins any racing game.

I play mcm2 online always with stock bikes "and i repeat always" and some people use that type of thing , i see them using it but i dont say anything , but they also dont say it which is funny lollll
This happened with other mx game too , recently , ahahaha  ;D ;D

People that use changed power ..... usually are afraid of loose because they dont have the skills to ride a bike\a game in its limits , so they prefer to go that way....errr
Win easy , and think that no one notice   :-*    pc fault  :-* lol

Even in mxatv unleashed was a mistake that every one could change every thing.

DirtTwister

There is really enough clues in the install folder so that people can figure it out.  There are files in there that to me serve no purpose except to provide the clues necessary to figure out the bxml format.  Once you start down that road it only takes talent, time, patience, and persistence.  Laurie has the talent, patience, and persistence and has willingly devoted his time.  He is doing his best to provide tools to improve the game.

It is possible for others to crack it and create an editor.  The reason that you don't see a bunch of editors available is because no one has wanted to invest the time it takes.

Thankfully there aren't editors out there because it really would ruin online game play.

There are other people in TD with way more talent and patience than myself, Bruce for example. :)

Apart from hosting and keeping the TD servers in top shape for the last 15+ years Bruce also created the original Reflex camera pack and might be persuaded into adding another custom camera angle - if it's possible..

ManModz - i'm curious what tools are you using to read BXML files?

Laurie

it's a kind of a useless bms script, since it only makes bxml into xml..
and the game, even if you delete all xml files in the main folder it will still run.

Google it , ain't on this forum, but as i said kinda useless : )

i wont ask for anything else about such tools/topic subject.
at this point, i agree with this
