Caz

Howdy all, new here.
Sorry if this has been asked before, search doesn't work for for me.

I resurrected a computer for my son (9) and it had some old games on it. (1nsane he loves)
He kicks my @ss in home network play and when he found out there were other tracks out there, he was drooling to beat me even more.

To my point, some tracks work, some don't. Does a track have to be in the specific directory it was designed for? If it does, and all you download is and env file, how do you know where it goes?

Are there any files I need to (download) install to run the newer tracks? If so, please point the way.

I'm sure questions on bikes, tricks and skins will not be far behind.....

(Should I get MX vs ATV?)

Thanks, Caz's Dad

C'mon, help me out here, or at least tell me where to look.

Fixer

This is from the "readme.txt" in the games folder:
2.14 Custom tracks need to be saved in the correct folder in order to be available from within the game.
In order for a custom track to be available from within the game, you need to copy the .ENV file to the correct location. The Teraform folder (in the location where you installed Motocross Madness 2) includes subfolders for each of the track types featured in the game: Baja, Enduro, National, Quarries, Sx (Supercross), and Tag. It's important that you place the .ENV file in the correct location. If you copy a Nationals track .ENV file to the Baja folder, the custom track will not be available from within the game.

2.15 Custom track files should not be named the same as .ENV files that ship with the game.
In order for a custom track to be available from within the game, you need to avoid giving the .ENV files the same names as .ENV files that shipped with Motocross Madness 2. If you do, your custom files will not be available from within the game and the game may stop responding. Use unique names for your custom tracks!

If you run newer tracks that have custom eco systems then you will need to download those also- we should have links here for that....
Twisted Dirt has recreated the MX vs ATV tracks for MCM2 but you will need to download the eco.res files and follow the instructions.

MVA is a love it or leave it deal and pretty much divided the MCM community, now there is little left of the greatness that MCM1 & 2 had...

Hopefully we'll get some more replies from others...

Quote(Should I get MX vs ATV?)

I personally REALLY like MX vs. ATV unleashed for the pc. It has its quirks, however I feel thats its better than MCM2. Its worth the 20 or 30 bucks they sell for now. Besides its a motocross game!! I have quite a few of them good or bad. I recently(on a whim) bought MX vs. ATV untamed for the Wii. Its a lot of fun. I feel that MVA(we call it) is the best out there right now.

Here are some thoughts here......

My advise is to keep playing MCM2 as long as it's fun because you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it. If you play MVA there are somethings that are better and they will make you not enjoy MCM2 as much.

But.... after you play MVA for a short while you will tend to hate a lot of things about it and eventually you won't play either. :P

My advice to you is play mcm2 , mxavt is very easy game and boring after 3 laps on a new track and online you need spend 30 minuts just to do a 5laps with 3 or 4 friends and if after the 30 minuts of trying race online you canĀ“t do a race , my advice is just forget it lol .
There is just 2 things that i like on mxatv , 1 is the bike suspension movements , 2 is the rider movements , other than this mcm2 is better and is possible race with 8 online and mxatv is just 6 , but just to do a race online is a pain.

If you want race with us mcm2 visit MDXracing site , tracks , recorder , week competitions and friday night online contest ,
after all 6 rounds i won the final of FNR_1  ;D Woooo  , hopefully we go do FNR_2 in the future if all goes well .. :P

www.mdxracing.com
site needs register to download tracks , etc..

Dwl the mcm2 TD RES update to play on new tracks (and old also) , extrat to RES folder.
http://www.twisteddirt.com/MXUtracks/files/TD_Res.zip
and put national tracks on NATIONAL folder and supercross tracks on SX folder.

Caz

Thanks all,
I think I'll just keep giving him a few goodies at a time and keep his interest up.

When he tires of beating me and his brother, I'll hit you up for online details.
He's still honing his skills, not into National or SX yet.

I'll install the res files tonight and let you know.

Anyone happen to know what directory these belong in?
Nocturnal_Flying_Machines_NFM
TDmutantnewton01
Thrashed_Lands_III
funky_flyer_se

Thanks again,
Jamie

Thrashed_Lands_III i think go to QUARRIES folder because Thrashed_Lands_4 is a freestyle track , so the version 3 should be also a freestyle track thought.
funky_flyer_se is a national.
TDmutantnewton01 go to national folder.
Nocturnal_Flying_Machines_NFM dont know that track.

Sneer

I think that last track is an freestyle aswell, jp :)

1nsane is a great game, here are some mods for it:
