Hey guys, I am all about hard core PC games as you all know, but after a few LONG conversations with KAM, He has me thinking a little more open, here's why.....

I have seen XBOX Live, the potential here is amazing, I know, LIVE there is a fee, about 50 bucs for the year, but you can download movies, music, demo's etc etc, but.... Imagine this, I would say we will see this on our next release from Rainbow,

Track editor on PC,Create track, Import track VIA USB flash drive, load onto XBOX 360, or UPLOAD to web for download to share/race etc.  Hosting tournies would be amazing with Voice chat, with private lobbies etc with 50-200 riders, results will automaticly upload to a server like (like Forza 2 http://forzamotorsport.net/default.htm ).

I have just thrown out a cenario there for you guys, I think us (Me included) has bashed console's as "Kids gaming systems", but has anyone seen Forza 2 on a high def TV and online???  Forza 2 at 1080i on a 50" screen with full home surrond sound will blow your mind guys!!  BTW, I love the Miscrosoft steering wheel when its mounted to a good surface.

I think the Forza 2 physics ar all as good as GTR2, maybe even better, but the main thing is, I raced for several hours and never locked up, we know that whole story, 1 piece of hardware, all the same software right??

Just dont block out XBOX live yet, know I havent seen PS3 network yet, so I have no info, but think about a GLOBAL MX Untamed series with NO HACKS with 200 racers!!!  Would we see AUS_Twisted leading ??  Or perhaps a locked track series on the next version of untamed??  Just look into it guys is all I am saying, look at the number of racers on Forza 2!!

Note: I am going to post this on a few sites that we all visit to share my thoughts.

Note: Team VRT WILL be hosting a tourny on XBOX live in 2008!!!

Fixer

As the never ever use a console doom sayer ;D I feel obligated to throw my 2 cents in. Yes I've seen xbox 360 @ 1080P on my TV- I had to buy one for my son's birthday ( all his friends are on it)

Looks real good, almost as good as a PC- better than some people's I'm sure. That's the good news the bad, I can't use that controller worth a crap in FPS games not only that but I never want to even try.

Racing games are alright with the controller but guess what... I don't want to use a xbox 360 controller with a little thumb joystick...

XBOX Live- That is a weaker link altogether - you pay for what essentially is a match making service- they don't host the games on a dedicated server they make one of the players the host. I can sum it up in one word- LAG.

In FPS games You can't join a game in progress or leave or your stats go down. You can't play against friends- you might gang up in other matches...So you play matches against random strangers everytime whether you want to or not.

Kids have built "lag-switchs" that apparently are quite common. So cheating is alive and well on the Xbox  along with other things you see happening...

My son's Xbox came with a broken component cable and it still hasn't been replaced after 6 emails and 2 tech line calls, they finally sent me a replacement cable but it wasn't even the right one. I needed a hdtv-tv component cable they sent a dvi cable- why I don't know....idiots that won't even take the time to read an email before they have an answer.
I finally just went to the store and bought another so I could get the damn thing out of my living room ;D

Fixer

If they added keyboard and mouse support- USB that would be good but that adapter highlights the problem as it stands.

By time you buy the console buy the games, controllers, adpaters, chargers etc and then buy a HD TV to play it on ( unless you like having your main TV dominated by your kids playing it all the time) your = to or way past what a PC costs- which I happen to be using right now> a multi functional PC-Gaming device  ;D

I forgot to mention the amount of noise that comes out of the console...after years of hushing my PC's, I find the box is extremely noisy especially with disc in it.

On the plus side- it will help heat my house this winter  :D

Would we see AUS_Twisted leading ??

lol I doubt it, 1st I'd have to buy a 360, 2nd I'd have to buy a screen for it and 3rd I really wouldn't have the time anyway. I'd need another dedicated room just for it as I have 2 PC's and the TV in the lounge gets used all the time by everyone for TV and movies etc, I'm barely able to start up the old Dreamcast in the lounge without someone complaining lol.

Oh yeah and the 4th thing, I've seen and heard of far to many 360's dieing. When people are on there 2nd and 3rd one there must be a serious heat issue with it's design.

Fixer

The 3 RED rings of death. Yeah they're still working on that small problem... the unit I bought my son has HDMI-1080P and extra cooling but it puts off a lot more heat than my PC. Did I mention it sounds like a helicopter when it's running?   :D

If you thought getting everyone to have the same tracks was a nightmare on PC wait until you try this way, unless you could auto-download the tracks - then space quickly will become a problem due to measly 20 gig drive-"deluxe" version...... unless you ponied up the extra $100.00 and got the "huge" 80 gig drive on the elite  ::)

If Rainbow really wanted to get the old core MCM community back then this would be coming out for PC and it would be really good- I can't see either of these things happening.   ;)

I think all of us would like to see a rebirth of the community like we had & loved before but I see this as only fragmenting the community further...

As already mentioned the cost to have a console gaming system is way to expensive.  I can't afford to spend that much money on a uni-tasker!  I'm do for a new PC (which gets used all the time for more than just games) and I don't want to spend more money just to setup a gaming console system.

I hate to kill the excitement, but tracks will not be made on a personal PC, then uploaded to LIVE.

I can't speak for Rainbo, but I do know that MS try to keep their live service as secure as possible.  Allowing someone to upload gives them access to upload a virus, or some other security breaching file.  All content on LIVE must go through a huge certification process.

If the game does have a built in track editor, it's possible to upload those and play them.  I know we upload a customizable poker room in a game we've done and a track editor on the 360 is really no different.

Another possibility is THQ and Rainbo submitting a "track pack" that they make, kinda like a FPS map pack.  But don't count on any user created content in a "track pack" because of the legal problems associated with it.  Remember people bitching about their tracks being hosted on some sites, or Kam making the DVD for people and track creators bitching.  Amazingly this also happened with a guitar Hero hack.  Someone was nice enough to put everyone's songs on a single image of guitar hero.  Then the people that stole the music to make their songs got all bent out of shape because this guy spent time to make everyones songs accessable to the masses.

Best luck is a track editor for the PC once its released.
