using a ps2 controller in the game

i have just reinstalled the game after long time away

i know i used to use a playstation controller to play but im sure i had to install some software for it to work

can anyone rember what the software is called that is needed?

the controller registers in the control panel of xp but doesnt let me change the controles in the game

Using a PS2 controller on the PC has always been plug and play for me. 
Game should let you reconfigure the controller.  If not, maybe the game doesn't detect you want to use the PS2 controller.

yeah im sure it used to plug and ply

it shows up in the control panel but its not just this game that wont detect it others wont either like trd3
