I did the terrain and track outline on a track and decided to place objects before working on the jumps, etc.  Objects are easier...point and click; I was procrastinating.  Anyway, I placed all the objects and conformed them to the ground or whatever with that button.  Then, they were still kinda off the ground so I built dirt up around themand covered the gaps and roots.  I saved it and exited the editor.  I came back a while later, loaded the track, and all the objects were floating above the dirt mounds I built...way above.

Why?  How do I fix this?

Kasberg, i'm having the same problem, the only thing i can suggest, is leave your object placement
to last. other then that, sorry i cant be of much help to you.

Fixer

go to the object menu, left click on one object, then press-   control & A   - at the same time, this will select all objects then ck, move to ground-- done- hopefully

Like Chris said, objects placement is the last thing to do just before finishing the track and create shadows.
Place them, rotate them, ... , test the track more than 1 time than the track is finished. That can require some hours of work in 1 time but it's the easier method to have a clean creation I think.
Click on the save button often  and make backups during this step.
Just be care and take the time required.
Track making isn't a speed championship, i know that since MCM2 lol.
What Fixer said is just but I don't like this method, we can see under some objects and I really prefer to modify the placement of each object manually, an object a little in the ground is nicer than just put on the ground (bales in whoops, stock MVA trees, ...)

All objects seem to float above ground when you exit out of the editor and load your project back up, it's also like going to the Activity menu, everytime ya click on that your track scale gets set back to default everytime :(

And then theres the problem of the editor rendering objects shadows twice, once in the right spot under the object and a 2nd time elsewhere on the map.

Kasberg187

it gets set back to default?

so after i choose my activities or whatever, i have to resize it, then place objects, then save, then export?

Hi Kasberg, after a lot of working with he editor, the only time that the editor re_sets back
to the stock setting, is when you have been working with the spline, stock setting=6. that is when you get floating objects, all you need to do is re_size your setting back to the setting you are using.
then the objects will be back to normal. and not floating, some of the tree's may be floating, but you can re set them hand. make a note of your grid size, then you should be ok.
hope this will help you.
have fun chris

After many aggravating hours and many times through my track RE-setting the object height over and over, I realized what was going on.  It is another bug in the editor that causes the objects to lift.  Run this simple test.  Open a track. place an object, move it to ground.  Save the track and exit.  Reopen the track, click on the same object, move to ground AND WATCH THE DARN THING MOVE DOWNWARD!!!  By simply opening the track in the editor, every object lifts slightly and it does it every time.

I know some tracks are never done with tweaks and adjustments, but try not to set the object level till the very end and save yourself some headaches.
