Englishtown Raceway Park 2005:
the big dragonback is the staircase jump.. its 2 doubles.. it rides mint ingame.. the other dragonback is a stepdown.. its usally smooth but by the end of the day thats how it is.. im going to do 2 versions on this track.. Practice and Race. Practice will be how the track is when practice before the race is, when the track is smooth but slick.. maybe a little muddy.. race will be when the track is fully rutted nd beat up.. nd this track in real life gets really rought b/c its mostly sand nd soft dirt so it gets big breaking bumps..i got a few more plans for this track..traction map, ruts, objects, animated flags, flaggers. alotta stuff people never seen... heres a litte update.. berms added.. disp 65% done.. needs bumps nd little things to make it ride good.. should have a beta up soon hopfully

I like the looks of that track.  I also like how your doing some unique, and original (at least to me) sections in there.  Hard to believe, we've been playing custom tracks for so long now, but every once in a while you get a track with a few new things, and it really helps to freshen the experience up.

That track looks very nice KX, something worthy of Rainbow, the lighting in the car park section looks specially nice. As for the crowds, heres something we learned from the MXU tracks (you have probably seen this already but), to add people to the stadiums use 1 sided billboards (ie a 4 vertex/2 triangle rectangle) with a texture of people sitting in seats using transparency, then place them through your stadium. This gives a real 3D look to the crowd but will probably be a lot of work depending on how full you want the stadium.

Yea I was telling someone the I can afford to make the crowd a seperate object, as far as pollys go, and poke them through like you said. I think AUS_Twisted and maybe some others have done that with their stadiums. That stadium is next to nothing in pollys. There are about 1600 bales on the track (yup d2 handled it), but my testers say they don't notice any lag.


hey dub, those shadows look way dark. Maybe do something about that.

IF I do make a crowd, can a single mesh be animated? If you've seen mx vs atv, then you see how the crowd is animated. Its simple, but it makes it look way better.

Sure a single mesh can be animated, but i haven't seen MX v ATV in action yet, at least not long enough to notice any animation, so i'm not sure what animation you are going for. Since it's only a 2D board you're probably imited to up/down and forward/back anything else might look a bit unreal.

Nah, didn't even draw this up, I went old-skool with it, All paintbrush and blur. Except the surface bit, those ripples are just a nice pattern to give the off-track some shape..

At the moment, I got myself a texture man, but i'm getting back into this, I will be starting another soon ;)
