So i finally figured out terragen a little bit, but i still need some help on a few things.

* When i render the textures in terragen and then transfer them into the game the shadows are horribly blurry.

*If there is anyone that is really good with terragen i wondered if it is possible to add to IM so that i can ask a few questions.

any help would be very appreciated

thanks

Ya Showtime you can add me to your MSN. I'm currently working on an Advanced Texture Mapping tutorial with Terragen. So I'm sure I can probably answer any questions you might be having.

Yo Paul, Terragen is one program I am just not very effective at. I know there are tons of tutorials out there on Terragen but so little of it relates to track building (or at lease I can't seem to make the connection)

Has anyone ever written a Terragen tuorial that is directed more at what we do here in track creation?

Thanks man.

Yes Wayne,

I put out a video tutorial about a year or so ago (maybe a bit longer)...can't quite remember. But it's since been lost by me AND the host site (VMX). So it's pretty much gone. It was a half-hearted effort to begin with and there was some ghosting and overlapping audio that made it kinda hard to tell what was going on exactly. So maybe I'll think about doing a series of Terragen Video tutorials to keep the size of the files down to managable pieces. If you want to know anything though Wayne just hit me up on MSN (there should be a link on the left I believe that adds me to your MSN) sometime and I'll help ya out man.

;)

Also The Loz did some Terragen tutorials too I believe. I used his Terragen Sky Cube tutorial to get my chops up on doing those...then I did like I usually do and took it a bit further. Perhaps a tutorial on those as well would be in order. Don't know when I'll get the time to do all of this stuff. It's probably going to have to happen before I move to England to start working at Climax Racing.  :P

Haha, my tutorials are so out of date... sky one is still relevant but DEAR GOD that sky is ugly... and who uses Photopaint?!

New ones should be online by the end of February. PhotoShop based... Textures is definite, skies if they're supported, and dispmaps if I can be bothered :P

Anyone wants help on Terragen, gimme a shout on MSN, I've been using it for about 6 years now, so y'know ;)

I never thought my tutorials would be particularly popular... specially the texture one... but now everyone's doing Terragen textures. I'd appreciate a bit of acknowledgement for the time I put in on my tutorial though... I've seen two or three Terragen tutorials out now which don't mention mine at all, but actually just say the same basic thing. When I basically figured all that stuff out myself (apart from the basic inspiration from O_R's tute) it makes me a little upset to not get any recognition... Not singling you out Ratax mate I've seen other ones as well... guess it's just the last straw that broke the camel's back :(

And sorry for ranting... I'm not habitually a grumpy bastard!

Hey Loz,

Sorry man no harm intended I must of forgotten to add your link and credits when I redid the site last time. My Bad

I do know what it's like not to get credit most of my PS tutorials have been ripped.

But I've gotten over it, not much a person can do. But I've always respected others work, so I apologize.

Regards,

Denny

Edit:

I guess I had the credits on the Sky Cube tutorial.

Added credits to both, sorry again about that.

'Sall good people :) I just noticed that I myself never thanked O_R on the tutorial itself. :-[ Sorted it out now, but I still feel a bit hypocritical! Sorry again for the rant, I have a lot of respect for both you guys and what you bring to the scene :)

Just read your TY Denny, made me smile that did. ;) Thought nobody understood about the tears!! :'(

Damn Loz,
Your Tut is how I got started using Terragen in the first place.I printed that out and I still have it to this day in a binder with probably every tut and post I ever asked about on getting started in trackmaking!I swear it's about 3 inches thick!Lol.I use Terragen about 85% of the time on my tracks and I want to learn some new techniques so I am looking forward to some new ideas from you and Paul. Now that Denny and I are on the same team,I can hopefully learn some ideas from him as well.
I think Loz's tut can go down as one of the  many & most important contributions to this game. ;D

MCM2 Bible eh? Sounds like a good idea ;) And glad my stuff helped you out mate! Should be making some new tutorials for MVA, and they're gonna be much more printer-friendly!
