Hi,
I'm new to the forum and very excited about adding some new tracks to the game. I hope it all works well.

I wonder if you can help me out with riding. That's how I found this forum in the first place. I can place first in the Enduros, and other races and do really well until I get on the pro-circuit supercross tracks. I swear the game is out to get me. (It even made me ride in a big pink bunny suit on one race. I couldn't believe it, gives new meaning to "Easter Egg") I will start out well, but if I make a mistake, like hitting or getting hit by another driver, they start way ahead of me and much sooner than I do. Or if I go off the track, it takes forever to stop the bike. I also notice that when I restart, if it's on a section that has several large bumps or rollers (I don't know the official terms for these features) the other bikes can from a dead start got flying up and over, while I get in the air and pile drive a landing on the face of the next bump.

I'm using a Logitech Wingman feedback wheel to drive ( so I can't do the stunts, and I must say this game doesn't jolt the wheel much even with force feedback set to full).

I've tried using a bigger or smaller bike, and tweaking the suspension, with little change. I did find that on the supercross tracks, that loosening the suspension on the front and back helps. The manual that came with the game has pitiful support for how to adjust the bikes for various tracks, (if you know where there's that kind of advice, I'd like to find it.) But I am wondering, what is the best way to handle the sections of small rollers, like a washboard. I sometimes drift toward the haybales, and find it very hard to correct the steering. Also I occassionally can get a rhythm where I can zip from one trough to the next and pick up speed doing so, but usually, I go bucking along and fall further behind. I'd appreciate some basic riding tips.
Thanks, I'm glad to have found this group and I look forward to learning more about racing on this great game.
regards,
Blaster

just hold the gas on forever then bubba scrub the lips of jumps.

uh..."bubba scrub"...what is that?

What he meant is to whip the bike flat and turn for all your worth. Not only increases distance but it also allows you to tweak your landing spot a bit

I never tried a wheel but... ( everybody has their own opinion on this) .... a joystick seems to work best with this game (for me) as I find it easier to get the preload off the jumps to fly further and higher. Some guys like the keyboard but I don't know how they do it. I like the progressive and controllable turning that you get with a stick.. lastly finish those "stock" tracks and move on to the user created tracks there are literally thousands of them and quite a few that are even better than the stock tracks.

PS Always great to see some new people in this game - not bad for a 5 year game! and you found the best MCM2 site on the planet!  ;D

When I was on the zone and I rooted peeps they was like 'what joystick do you use!?' none, I ride with keyboard, no-one believed me... but if you get used to it, it rides great IMO, I wouldn't trade it for a joystick...

Preloading seems much easier with the stick and the direction keys on a keyboard are like on & off switchs - just what I don't like about console games with a stick you have progressive turning - a little or lot or anywhere in-between. Normally you wouldn't drive-ride with a series of arching turns ( some people do!)  but ...

i just recently bought a ps2 controler adapter and i gotta say it preloads way harder than anything else ive ever used. it also is really easy to control, and makes the game fell more like mx unleashed

Yeah. I definatly agree with Fixer. I've tried a PS2, but it just doesn't compare to a JS. It's much better turner. Like he said, it has progressive turning. It took me about 3 weeks to get hang of the steering, now I wouldn't trade it for anything. I dunno about you people with JS, but if you grab the bottom half of the JS, and use 2 of the side buttons for Accelerate and Brake, it's much quicker to preload.

blaster: Them computer players preload. That's why they jump so far.

I use the xbox controller adapter, and I garantee it preloads faster than ps2 controler. I can't get used to a stick eiter.
I rode keys up until about 2 years ago, its good because you have to ride smooth to go fast, so it teaches you to be smooth. The switching to stick (pad) you can preload and ride smooth.
Lately,  I been using the clutch ALOT. Its great for tight turns, especially bumpy ones, but it actually does help alot.
