Hey folks... here is what I'm seeing.

Small tears in the tracks... like where the graphic textures are tiled.  The tears are always perfect horizontal or vertical . lines.  You can see the fog color behind the tear.

OK.. I noticed this on my 5600 Nvidia card before switching to the 6600.  But I was able to remove them installing he original 5600 drivers that came with my HP system.  However, now I've updated to the XP media drivers 81.98.

Anyone else see these TEARS?????

My system is XP Media w/1.5GB ram PC3200 DDR400 RAM, 256 MB GeForce 6600 and 3.2GHz P-4

Thanks
Randall

I did Randall.  But I don't recall if it was before or after I put my new video card in.  I havn't been in the game for a few days because it was just really pissing me off that it ran so crappy on my computer.  I'll have to check it out and see if I still get them.

Fixer

I noticed this a few times on the demo national but really haven't seen it happen int he full game... well that was until I played online where more than a few times I had huge tears in the horizon - sky that lated for several seconds each time it happened then it went away and never came back !?

VRT_RIDEBLUE

Yes, I notice the tears, if you improve the graphic quality(in windows) they will go away, I use the nvidea tweaker (overclocker) drivers, it has alot more options.

Fixer

I already have the graphic quaility sliders to max and antiialias and aniso at 6X and 16X respectively- ATI card & catalyst control panel... I only got the tears- online- once. I'm not worried-yet...

VMX_D-Dub

I have the same as Fixer ... I put everything on max and it is pefect!

RKipker

Well... I only thought I had a fast system then.  Can't run the settings you guys are referring too.  menus load slow even w/those settings.  But the tears were still there.

Really dissappointting... cause there pretty bad.

I'm running in 2x/2x mode with setting set to high quality.  Also in the game 1280 x 1024 resolution.

I'm going to have to try older drivers I guess.  Cause when I ran he stock hp drivers my old card ran w/o the tears.

Hope this is fixed in the PATCH... that's a joke!

Try turning down your screen res a little.  1280 x 1024 is a lot more than the game was really designed for anyway isn't it, being a console game.

Fixer

I'm running at 1600 x 1200, my LCD's native res and the game is always pinned against the 30fps limiter, :P

I  have a 3ghz P4 and a Radeon XL800 256mb  but it's 16 pipeline and more than a fair amount of system ram- 2gigs.

I just realized that I have this problem on my work computer not my home computer.  It is running a Radeon X600 PCI-E w/ 256 MB RAM.  I grabbed the latest driverse right when I picked up MVA.  Maybe an older driver will fix the problem.

RKipker

Yep... it seems for me the newer driers are the problem.  But you can not find any info at the THQ/Rainbo sites.  Such poor support for this game.

Does anyone know of a good link for MVA info w/respect to driver issues?

I have the same card as you do Randall (Geforce 6600 256mg AGP with a gig of ram & 3.3ghz P4) and I get the same cracks/tears in the terrain. I tried some of the suggestions in this thread - like getting the Nvidia Hardpage Tweaker.

I made some changes with the tweaker, went into MVA, ran a national and the tears/cracks were gone. But, like a dummy I guess, I tweaked some other settings and the tears/cracks came back. I've tried to make them go away again with no luck so far - maybe it was a fluke or there is some setting that fixes the problem.

If I do get it fixed again I'll post how to do it.

Thanks Guy's....!  I did download the nvidia hardpage and a few other tweaking programs from 3DGuru... I'll play with it Boyd... at least that's encouraging.

It does Suck though!
