General Discussion MX vs ATV Reflex / Re: skins

If we can get this sorted out to work perfectly, there should be an initial bike package released of approximately 20 new bikes based on current 450 and 250 supercross teams. Going forward, there is hope to do a monthly bike package made up of other bikes from around the world as well as community inspired bikes. This may include voting, contest winners, or tournament champions. Until we can get the process of adding skins down I cannot say for sure what we will do, but it will be big and worth the wait. We will keep everyone updated.

I would suggest you stick with the patched exe's that cap you at 30fps, and make sure you use the same settings and turn off AA. That exe is much more stable for FPS and you aren't going to run much above 30 FPS online anyway with other players. Also, go to the nVidia control panel and make sure all settings are at default, and then set "Vertical Sync = Force Off" as the only adjustment. You have it turned off in the Reflex settings, but this just makes sure it is off.

While you do have a very healthy CPU, your GPU and ram is matching the minimum requirements to even play the game. Basically, any card below what you have should not even be able to run Reflex so you shouldn't expect to see blazing FPS. Trying the original exe's was a very smart first step. They do only affect online FPS but since you're never getting 30+ fps, I can understand why they didn't make a difference although it was worth a shot to make sure they were not the limiting factor. Answer the following questions and I'll try to assist you further:

1. What drivers do you currently have installed?
2. What is your monitor's native resolution?
3. What are your current MX vs ATV Settings?

Bruce and I actually just got a skin into the game yesterday. Unfortunately the process has nearly sucked the life out of me and I'm not sure how much more I will participate in the project. It's never going to be something so easy that players will be able to just add skins at will because there is too much that has to be done to get a skin in the game. If we tried to release a tool to allow players to create and add skins themselves, it would become a complete mess so it has to be done in a controlled environment due to the multiple tables of numbers that cannot be duplicated. Please note that the pic below is the first time we got a skin to show up in the store and it had not been tested so it's not perfect. I have about 17 skins that are between 50 - 99% complete, but that last 1% is actually seeing them in the game to know if things are lined up or not.

General Discussion MX vs ATV Reflex / Re: what is "steam"

I was not aware of that. I know when I had purchased all of the DLC for Reflex and my son logged in, it wouldn't let him access the content. I just assumed it was the same for all purchased / downloaded items.

@ Bruce: That may actually be worth a shot. I've always used cloud because it saved my settings such as control settings no matter what computer I used. I've never turned it off so it's worth a shot.

@ Bulldog: Yes, I can see where this would be annoying, but Xbox Live works the same way. If you purchase games through your account, you cannot log into someone else's account on the same Xbox and access those games. However, there is hope. First of all, I don't think he could accidentally purchase games. Even if you saved your credit card information within Steam, I believe you still have to manually enter your birthdate and security code. I've never let Steam save my information so I cannot verify this, but it sure would be a bad idea to allow people to purchase games without any need for some sort of confirmation. Secondly, you don't have to create a whole new account for your son to play. At any time you can right click your name in your friends list and choose "Change Profile Name...". What I would suggest is to select an easy name that he will remember so that you can switch back and forth. That way if he goes online and plays, people will see his name and not yours. You could even inform those on your friends list of your son's name so if they see that name on their friends list, they know it's your account but your son is at the helm. Then you can simply right click your name in the friends list and put it back to your own name. It may sound like alot, but it's actually easier than logging out and back in everytime you change who is playing.

I got a couple of things working in Reflex last night. Hoping to release this stuff soon as part of a package. Don't get wound up just yet as this is not my own custom skin, it's something that is already in your game but turned off. The same goes for the Reflex Special Event.

I'm using a wireless 360 controller on the pc and I think that both games "feel" the same. I think the 360 version of the game is faster paced while the pc version seems to be easier to preload / jump. My pc is pretty strong (Intel Core i7 920, 6gb DDR3 ram, GeForce GTX460, SSD hard drive) and I get 80+ fps all the time at 1920x1080, so it's not lag, it's just the way the game was converted by Double Helix.

A neat little trick Steam can do is allow you to register games bought in the store. I am not 100% sure Reflex is supported in this way, but here's an example: I bought Unreal Tournament 3 on DVD from Best Buy. When I got home I started Steam and opened my library window. At the top I went to Games > Activate a Product on Steam. Then I entered the cd key that came with UT3 and Steam knew what it was right away and added it to my list of games. Once I knew it was in my library I was able to discard the DVD's and never worry about it again. Any time I want to install the game I can download it directly through Steam as if it was purchased through them. This may not be something for everyone, but I have such a bad habit of losing discs no matter how hard I try. This keeps my gaming library together no matter what computer I'm on and I never have to worry about the disc again.

I sure miss the old MCM2 tracks. Voodoo Basin is probably the one I miss most, but maybe that's because it's the one I remember the most. Regardless, there are plenty of MCM2, ATV Offroad Fury, and MX Unleashed tracks I would love to see transferred. Being that Alive is so close, and we already have all of the DLC that Reflex got on the consoles, I don't see RBW taking the time to do anything else for Reflex. That doesn't mean that someone else can't convert them.
