General Discussion MVA / Motocross The Force 900
July 28, 2006, 12:39:35 PM
Hi all,

Just to let you know Motocross The Force 900 has just been released.
http://www.jstarlab.com

We have been working hard; this new version contains many new features and improvements over the earliest version.
The game uses rigid body simulation; the bikes respond to every bumps on the track. The controls are very different from the ones in MVA. We already know that many of you will prefer the controls and gameplay featured in MVA. The game attempts to offer a new approach to motocross video gaming.

We give 60 days free trial for everyone to try the game.
We are open to comments and criticism.
Track designer Thibault Saint-Olive or myself will be happy to answer questions, either on this forum or on my forum.

Regards

Benoit Chaperot

PS: I am not sure this is the most appropriate place on the TD site to post this message.

General Discussion MCM 2 / Re: Motocross The Force

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments, suggestions and support.
Yes, I will try to have the rear wheel to slide, while accelerating or braking.
I did not think of having seperate controls for front brake, rear brake, and a clutch.
My personal opinion is it is better to keep the control simple, similar to the control in MCM.
I thought I could add the gyroscopic effect of accelerating and braking while in the air, but I thought it may be redundant with the lean forward, backward command.
I do most of the programming and game design myself; MCM2 fans are my friends, I know I will need the support from the MCM2 community for game adjustments, track design and creation, and DirtTwister is a good place to get that support.
I will keep you updated as the project goes.  :)

Hi all,

Thank you for your comments and support.
If you look at the dates, the latest executable available for download is dated September 2004.
Since that time my friend Eric and I have continued working on the project, and the latest version, not yet available for download, is a lot better.
Most of the work has focused on improving the bike handling, how good it could turn, and how easy and fun it was to ride.

We are only two, and currently Eric is busy with other things. We can not totally compete against teams of more than 50 people like Rainbow Studio; but so far we are doing very well.

Similarly, we do not intend to do the same games as Rainbow studio do; we want to concentrate more on the simulation and less on the aracade aspect of the game. A motocross bike must be a fun vehicle to ride; we want our bikes to react to every bump on the track, and we want to convey a rich and enjoyable riding experience to the player.

The riding is not perfect; the bike can still not skid right; but we are working on it and eventually we are confident we will manage to get it right.

More information and a video of a latter version can be found on the site:
