if you wamt the parts where layers overlap to not rise you cant have the top layer set to screen, you will have to set either the top one or both layers to normal.

take a look at thec4detonators trackbuilding kit, you can find it on this site just search for it.
since you didn't specify what you are struggling with, this should give you a start

About the trees problem:
I needed to make a new .track file for the trees to work.
also i needed to place a lot more trees to make it stable, i think that ones you get above 350/400 trees you're okay :)

so, i have the newest version of de. I made a test eco system with some trees and bushes (140 in total) and the game keeps crashing :(. Without the eco system it loads up fine

this is a question of sTaTiC, he cant load twisteddirt for some reason so I post it for him.

here's the question:
Hey guys, so I'm starting a MX Vs. ATV Reflex team with some friends. I'm trying to make the skins and I cannot do it. I have the Reflex skin packager and the bmp's but I just cant seem to understand how to do it. I have my idea in mind and the design is simple. Someone who knows what they are  doing could proabably get the gear set done in maybe 10-20minutes (less if its easier then I thought). I am on skype, feel free to add me: jaredsparky   and I am on steam : STaTiC Thanks to anyone who can help. Thanks Twizard for posting this as for some reason I cannot get on TwistedDirt, it bugs me out.

cant you register the game in steam and then install it from steam? there's a small tab on the left-down corner.

FYI
I found that when you make it 16 bit image you can't save the image as a .bmp file wich makes you unable to open it up in the smooth tool.
and as jamieT said, it doesn't help you to make it 16 bit. so i would just stick to 8 bit :)

you can maybe try to make the blue and red heightmap to black and white by turning it to greyscale (image -> mode -> greyscale)

I know, so creators of DE if its possible could you make the water able to be deeper?
so it would be a little more realistic if you would drive through a river or something.

okay, so if i make th emap 1024 by 1024 it doesn't work and with 512 by 512 not to.
i think i might make a tutorial for the water.

and for the trees the game keeps crashing now. i have 600+ trees now. m,aybe reflex cant handle that much?

okay, o i have the water working now: turns out that the watermap is bigger then the heightmap, so if your heightmap is 2048 by 2048 your water map should be 1024 by 1024 or maybe even smaller, haven't tried yet. so that can maybe get fixed?

perhaps the water only works on a track that has the baseground level set to 0? mine is set to 20.

i did set the include water to true.

do you need the database files or the compilertrack files?
