General Discussion MX vs ATV Reflex / Re: Low FPS Help?
January 09, 2016, 02:05:00 PM
your built in graphics is not up to the job
#3
Laurie, what file types are supported for import of disp maps in DEW?
#4
We are talking about the displacement map?

The images need to be 24 bit images and I think .bmp  should work
#5
yeah, that won't work,  I haven't been using the editor but,
I think you need   .bmp  possibly .png  .psd

If you have the help file the correct format is discussed there.

Back in the old days we used .tga and we liked it...LOL

#6
what image format are you saving it as?
#7
if it's still 30FPS then I hope your eyes can handle it... :o
#8
make the top @ 80-95% white (depending on how much more height you need for the track on top of the hill),
you would need to readjust the initial settings when importing the map to adjust for the changes

You can use winrar or windows

in windows just click on the file MXTables_DLC008.zip and open it, when you see the database and package files inside, either drag them to your desktop and copy or move to the reflex database folder.

do the same with the MXTables_DLC008a.zip
#10
did you unzip them?
#11
I don't play the game  but someone will be along to help.

#12
start winrar program, choose 'file' then 'open archive' and navigate to the desktop (where you already dragged the downloaded file from the browser download list),
select the file and open it. If you want you can drag the files out to the desktop then copy or move them to the reflex \Database folder

or choose the 'extract to' button in winrar and point it to your   reflex \Database folder

if it's a zip file then you don't need winrar- just click it and windows will open it, if it's a rar file then you need winrar

#13
drag the downloaded  *.zip file to the desktop ( from the browser's 'download list), right click the *.zip file and choose open with winrar,
unzip the files to the desktop, then copy or move them to the reflex folder.

You shouldn't have to use winrar with zip files but you can

TD never released a program to edit RES files, this was mainly to protect track maker's and Rainbow's displacement maps, etc.
#15
Are you selecting the 'smoothing' option when you import the map into Armadillo?

I'm think you can only use 8 bits unless you use Leveler.

Thanks Logany, I'll try fraps, but will I need to buy the full version? I'm happy to purchase if needed. Cheers

you might get rid of the glitch but the drop in frame rates might make the game less 'playable'
#17
uninstall-reinstall
#18
um, OK.... I'm not seeing the point of doing that?
#19
I know you can edit it but what happens when you import it? If you reduce it to grey scale you lose all the advantages of Leveller
being able to make max elevation values that aren't stair stepped.

I have made minor corrections to the 16 bit images - in PS to create larger flat areas, etc but the places where the terrain varies it's impossible to smoothly edit the 16 bit image.

you really can't convert a leveller height map image to grey scale, and if you could it would remove the best reason to use leveller.

It's actually green & red...
