Well i have since gone to a GTX580 and have no issues in anygames with drivers or anything.   The 5870 is just fried.... and when i tried to get it RMAed ..... oh god that was a nightmare.... i will never go with XFX agian.    Bought an MSI Twin Frozr II and havent looked back since.

Ive shoved reflex to the side for Mx Simulator untill a better track making tool is released along with possible skinning.

Ok well as you can see in the post he failed to give any information about the skin.    So i will advise Reaper to remove it due to the unknown factor surrounding it.    Thanks guys.

Can someone please tell me if this is a ripped skin that one of you devs are working on or if this guy did something amazing and this is the real deal.

Well my 5870 has started its path to destruction i think....   Im getting this message now....  "the driver file amdkpdap as stopped responding and has been recovered"   Well its never recovered... and actually every game this happends in crashes or stops responding..... reflex is the worst...  where this happens usually about 30 seconds after the gate drops.   Bad Company 2...... same thing.....  i can hear the game still running.... hear guns shooting..... hear vehicles.... hear my buddies talking on team speak..... but im looking at a blank screen.   Im not the only one..... many people with these cards have had this same problem.

Ive tried everything.....  clean the driver with driver sweep in safe mode.... remove the hardware in my device list....  i even formated.....  reinstalled a fresh copy of my OS and started with the original driver i used before the problem started......  no help.   I finally resorted back to my old 8800GTS 640MB card and just as expected..... the problem was gone.  I can play for hours on end of all my games with no driver crash.....   Oh well.....   XFX has a lifetime warrenty.....  so ill be sending it back very soon.

If anyone knows something i dont about these cards that will fix this please let me know......   and please...  its not a driver version..... ive tried them ALL.

The 5870 runs on a 256Bit width memory....  which is fine with DDR5.    It should by all means run this game at maximum settings..  I refuse to believe that a consol graphics system is more powerful than my dedicated graphics card.    Im running a 2.6Ghz Quad with 4GB DDR2 1066 ....   my 8800GTS 640MB ran the game basicly the exact same.... UNTILL i deleted the savegame.bmxl file.   Now the 5870 is actually running the game a bit better.

I recently purchased Alive..... and can say the tracks and game world look amazing...  but i feel Reflex is a better game.

I run my settings pretty much the same as you bruce....  but 1440x900 @ 75Hz

I look forward to the day when somone finally finds out how to "tweak" the game files for preformance.    Im truely greatful for all the work going into the compiler and skinning (even though ive heard rumors thats come to a halt) but i fear the game is doomed unless the community coms up with something to allow the game to run on a lower grade machine.

Im running a 5870 with 1600 Stream Processors  and i still get lag on grass and headshake.....

Im a firm believer that this game barely uses the GPU and instead runs heavy on the CPU which is why your 3.3 Dual is having problems running the game.    I own an Intel 3.4 Dual (Not a core2 or Duo), 3GB ram with an 8800GTS and its slo-mo city....   Ive put my 5870 in and had the same result.   Its not the Graphics cards that are lacking... its the CPU.  The difference in the 3.4 and my gamer system is an AMD 3.0Ghz Quad......

The Intel system should by all means run this game....   I also think the game was build to run on a system with a very low demanding OS alot like the Xbox and PS3 use.   Not the Resource hogging Windows we all use on your gaming PC's.

I also believe new User created tracks will solve alot of the lag issue with less objects and less animation which i think is the main culprit in the sh!tty frames we get hardware that should atleast run the game fine on low settings.

Does anyone know if the GPU driver information is kept in this file?   I know several people that have recently had reflex decide it cant run on their computers anymore...   after they have 100+ hours of the game played.....    Maybe deleting this file will "refreash" or clear some kind of cache that the game uses for the rendering.   I was getting really crappy frames under 20 FPS on some of the Supercross tracks with a full gate of AI and after i deleted this file my frame rate went back to around 30 FPS.    Strange indeed.

Thashed would look nice in reflex....  :)

Well it was small to begin with....  i resized it to 1024 and pasted it on a 2048 tile.....  i think.....  ahh geeze.... my brain hurts from all the trial and error crap ive done in the last 2 days  lol     So far so good ......   Keep up the great work.   I have a new found respect for the people behind the development of the tools.

Well i took a very small scale AX heightmap from Unleashed and loaded it into the compiler and after playing with the scale value some i came up with this...

Laptimes were in the 30-35 second range....  Arenacross times  :)

Im going to experiment with the Unleashed Editor and make a chart of scale sizes for using it as i know alot of people liked using it to start a displacment and then went to photoshop and other programs to finish it.

mvamaniacs.com will have a beta track section for uploads.....  Reaper and Myself are going to review each upload so that we dont get a bunch of garbage ....   Im sure it will be awhile before we see "quality" works
