General Discussion MVA / Help me on textures
January 24, 2006, 06:48:04 AM
Ok you guy's know how colored blind I'am and I need a little help from anyone who would do it. I need someone to look at the textures in the game and tell me different combo's of 3 textures I can use for my test tracks so they don't look so crappy. I know it's sad but I just can't tell on greens and browns at all. Let me know what rows like row 3, 3rd and 4th texture with row 5 2nd one. I just need a few natural looking ones like a sand look and a light dirt look for my beta's I will have in the coming months. Thanks in advance if anyone has time. Sucks to be me when it comes to this part of track making.  :'(

Sounds good. I just started to have mine crash on me now on this track I'm playing with. It will only crash when I try to export it or test but it loads ok.

Oh God memories of the old dillo are coming back!!!  :)

Bruce,
I was just wondering what kind of stuff you have in mind to do with the new editor and the game. Is there any way to rid all the extra load screens like the "are you sure you want to race this track?" screen. I figure its not possible on that but what about the editor can you guy's get us some new Eco systems like a desert look and the forest look. I'm don't see a way of resizing those Giant Redwoods unless I'm over looking it. Let us know and don't keep all the secrets to yourselves. Inquiring minds want to know. I'm working on a desert track so if you have something come up let me know it need some Cactus trees and sage brushes. ;)

I concur good words "little one" You guy's have worked way more on this game than we where worthy of and its great to see someone with such dedication. What has amazed me is your knowledge over the years of code and other stuff. You guy's really know your stuff and we are lucky to have the minds that make up TD's groups. Besides Diablow...  ;D Just kidding long-wind I like you to your useful for something.  ;D Oh good luck on your new job adventure.

Bruce, take the time and go ahead and watch the whole clip of the Airforce video. Later on into it ti will show *#*#*pit views of in game footage and check out the missile launches. They really look good. I'm not a flight Sim player but if your into them this game looks like it will be alot of fun to play if it comes to your region.
Mike

VMX101,

The demo of this game works superbly. You can either button smash or use the sticks to throw punches and that makes it feel real as hell. If I want to throw a left hook to Hopkins head I hit the stick to the left and swing it in a round turn and Roy Jones Jr. will throw a left hook its sweet when you see it work. It looks better than any game I've played so far on the 360. I've seen some clipping but its usually in the replay's and not in the game. I'd say they might tweak it out before the final release. I was never a big fan of the first 2 but the second version didn't get my attention for a few weeks of rental and I'd have to say I will buy this one for sure.

Bruce,
You might have seen my post on factory's site but if you didn't check out the X360 Japanese upcoming release. I know how you like the flight games like Twisted and thought you might think it was cool. It looks to have a bunch of actual gameplay in the video and looks really realistic. Just click on the World Airforce link and if you have time look at the Boxing video. I downloaded the demo off of Live and this game looks like a couple of real guy's I follow both of theses fighters and their careers and they fight just like them. Like I said in the other post there are no health bars but you really don't need them. You can see the health of the guys by just looking at them. They cut and then they will bleed and swell up in the face. Check it out and see what you think.

Damn,
You never have to load a cd or movie huh? I need something like that myself. Thanks on the complement. Thats the only room I could haggle out of the wife. It's not the perfect room for a Home Theater setup but it works on. I'm thinking about adding on down the road and have a room put in that is your typical rectangular shape and making it the family room. I'll be saving for awhile but I'll get there. It's cool seeing what everyone uses around here.

Post photos!  ;D :o

Here ya go King. Never tried taking a photo of a TV before. Not the greatest results.

Damn Bob,
How many cd changers you got going on that setup? You must have more cds than I have mp3 downloads.  ;D
Cool set up.

Alright this is my setup I'm running my PC on.

Mitsubishi 52" DLP 1080p I had the 62" but the wife had no part of it so I exchanged it for the 52". Damn Martha Stewart types.  ;D I'm running with a Nvidia 6800Gt oc 256mb card @ 1920 x1080 with everything on.
Butter smooth averaging 80fps.
THX Polk Audio towers and Polk Audio THX 2 in-walls.
Yamaha receiver  ( I'm getting ready to upgrade to a Dennon receiver with a DVDO upconverter.)
The DVDO with upconvert any signal like a 480i DVD Player to the highest format your TV will handle such as 1080p being there is nothing else to take advantage of it. Really cool piece of equipment for the time being until Full HDTV comes our way men.
Mike

DVDO site check it out if your into Home Theater stuff this thing is cool. http://www.dvdo.com/

Jealous huh?
King is cool, been around since you where in diapers so go to bed now.
Mike

Nice setup King. You need to set me up with a working copy of GTR Legneds I can't find a working ISO without doing all the drawn out bull crap of unhooking drives and stuff to get it to run.

Sorry this post isn't about MXvsAtv but it is kinda neat so check it out. Microsoft is putting out this free series of videos on how to make video games and what goes into each aspect of it.

Mike,  I always thought your tracks were too good for MCM 2.  What I mean by that is that the MCM 2 bike could not ride your tracks they way that it should be able to.  The MCM 2 bike wasn't capable of taking advantage of what your tracks offered.

I'm hoping that you re-make some for MVA so that we can see what it's like with a bike that rides bumps better and slips in the turns.

Bruce

Wow!
Thanks Bruce for the nice compliment and if we have a way of doing that I will try it out and maybe I will be able to talk some of these guy's into whipping up some awesome textures for them being that I'm colored blind. If you guy's are bored here's what I've been up to over the past 2 yrs. and has taken up so much time. You will notice I've done alot of traveling and had some funs times. I will be featured in our Town Newspaper tomorrow and it will be about a recent National Park Calendar Contest I won with the first photo.

So Mike, does that mean we will still see your never ending feud with Hook? Its always amusing....lol.   I hope to see some Nats from you for this new game. ;D

Ahh yes!!! Hook,Tobz,Bommy,King, and the others.. ;D  I'm getting the itch once again to make tracks so maybe this game will get me motivated. Man, I don't know if I can hang with these guys now they are putting out art thats really impressive stuff to say the least. If any of you kids are reading this take this seriously. You guy's are working with programs that the companies are using and this will get you a foot in the door just ask Guy's like Diablo, Mike, and the others fortunate to get in.

I remember adding over 200 objects to a track this way, what a pain in the rear ::), right after that Jeff came out with  "MOA". :)

And to that we say "thank you"!!
I remember putting in about 215 objects and it would lock me out of the project then I would either have to release it as it was or redo the whole damn thing. I've said it 50 times and I'll say it again I have been really appreciative to all the work you guy's have put into this game and the programs that have extended its life. Without your dedication it would have died along time ago. These creators now have no clue how easy it is to make these awesome tracks compared to all of the bull*#*#* lockups and crashed projects we dealt with.

i think i know what you mean
but my point is that we can just look at the physics alone since the
comunity consist of so many diffrent type creators...

i am looking at the whole package what we got and try to look at what we seem to get...

if you think about it mcm2 is covering a very big range of graphics artist and riding preference. so for an upcoming game thats huge gap to fill

I see what you mean M/M.  But most of the stuff we enjoy in MCM2 were add-ons.  Was custom objects always doable?  Or was that an add on too.

The only objects we had where the ones in the game itself to use. Until guy's like tk-fears and cdog made some and gave them to me to use. I don't remember who made the skins program to see the model but you could do the skins right in PS but you had to go back and forth to the game to see what you did which was a pain in the arse.

I wasn't trying to crack on you M&M I was just saying lets wait until we get the game out and see what we got and then we can go from there. I'll bet Aunt Nanny's farm that before the year is up someone will have a program just for skins out so you can enjoy your artform of making skins. I for one hope so because you guy's are just as much apart of the community as the track builders and object makers. I for one hope we can have custom objects for it because they make tracks feel so much more personalized with them.
Mike

I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes just making a few statements on the observations I read over the past few weeks.

you could not care if they used terrain tex whit a size of 460x460?  cuz its all about the physics?

i as many others want  freedom to use what ever bike or gear we like not having limitations forced on us

i can name a lot of games that have fallen flat on their faces because of limitations

edgar torronteras
motox 2000
mx mania
mr3
castrol honda supercross
MTX
kawasaki ATV

all those are pc games

You act as if its your God given right to be able to modify everything in a game and twist the coding around to what you want. If you want to be able to do that then build the programs to do it don't slam companies for not providing it. It's not their responsibility to have to provide these sorts of things. 3/4's of the stuff out for MCM2 was never out until guy's like TD's and other groups made them. Then you go on to say those games fell flat on their faces because of that? No they fell flat because the just plain out sucked ass compared to the Rainbow games. I just find it amusing that you guy's are getting so ripped up over this game before it even has been released. Bitching about this and that and you don't even know if you like it or what things need to be done for it. My point is wait until its out and play the game. Hell MCM2 wasn't perfect at all. Remember the patches that where never released? I can set here and type bad things all day about MCM2 but it does no good and plus the fact that a lot of things where cured or taken care of from these guy's here. We already know that the game is going to be pretty much the same as Mcm2 because Bruce and the Boy's have brought us the bikes and tracks over from the Unleashed series. So that's a closed issue. Then we have a new Editor coming which will be a more polished program which I'd say will be more user friendly to the community and that will bring in more people. *#*#* tracks or not we will see more. All in all I looking forward to this game I played the hell out of it on the Xbox and didn't mind the tracks at all but to think we will be able to make smaller more technical tracks to our liking is the big thing and that will propel this game into the next few years for us. Plus think of the new arguments and fights to come in the forums abusing one another.  :P

Im feel both good and bad about this upcoming game release. Good that theres finaly something new coming, but bad because I will be spending way too much time sitting in front of this monitor!
It also sucks that its coming out before/during the summer. Thats lousy timing but hey its better then nothing.
I also hope that the editor is highly complex to use and will weed out the truly dedicated track makers from the sloppy slap together track makers.

Good point.
