General Discussion / Re: MCM2, Place to Race?
March 08, 2008, 11:44:45 AM
Hi guys, "MCM2 DieHard" here, LOL.

Hey, Mxrider36, MDx does not send an activation email.  You are good to do right after registration.

If you are having trouble logging in, I can help you.  What is your username?  I looked for a "Mxrider36" but did not see one.

Let me know how I can help.

I am looking for an old DBR_Tech track called "Fancy That"

Anyone have that on a disk somewhere?

Thanks.  ;D

Just incase there are any MCM2ers still here.  Here is another new one.  If you like AMA style Nats, then you will like this one.

You can find it at MDxRacing.com

Thanks

"What we are trying to do is build up the community again, pretty much from the ground up. Which is the reason for the track contest..."

Rebuilding the community is an admiral task, I'd love to see it happen, but doing so with the very game that segmented it in the first place is moronic.  MVA will never be the game to build a community on, it is just a crappy effort, it doesn't matter who ported it or who was responsible, you all had your name on it and it was total junk.  Kiss the communtiy goodbye fellas, trying to use MVA to rebuild it just tells the story as to what the future holds for us.  I hope that I am wrong, but it does not appear as though those who have the power to save it, have the means.

It would not be the first enity that accountants have destoyed with fiscal responsibility.

Ditto that Fix, it just won't happen at my house either.

If you want, you can email me a beta version and I'll take a look before you release it.

Just a suggestion.  ;D

P.S.
I almost forgot, another good place to look for terrain ideas is other MCM2 tracks too!

Not bad, but there is room for improvement, just as we all have room to grow.

The one thing that stands out to me is the monolithic form your textures take.  Except for the ruts, your track surface is exactly the same from berm to berm.  Look at some tracks or dirt roads near your home or on the net and copy what you see.

Likewise, do the same on the grass portion.  Add some different color grasses or dirst spots or sandy sections.  It should be variable in appearance, unless of course you have built your track on a golf course.

Try mixing it up a little, look on the net for ideas.  You are making good progress, keep at it.

Here is my latest track to be released.? It is an AMA National Replica of Thunder Valley 2006.

You may need to wait a day or two for MDX to get repaired, but you can find it there at mdxracing.com

You probably already got the email from MD, but there are some Domain Name issues and he won't be able to get them sorted out until Monday.? Some of these places are not open over the weekend.? So we will just need to sit tight until then.
#15
That seems like the long way around and maybe it is necessary, but I place objects in D2 and pack from D2 directly to an .ENV file.  Just be sure to answer NO when it asks you if you are ready to release.  If you say YES, you will not be able to reopen the ENV file.  Saying NO, you can reopen as much as you want to.
#16
Normally my frame rates inside D2 run between 20 and 30 FPS and my machine is no powerhouse by a long shot.  My current project only runs at 2 FPS, which is tough to use, but it does have 800 objects.  You can improve your FPS a little by dialing down your resolution on the OPTIONS tab.

Dillo2 will open either the prj or the env.? I open the prj file the first time to bring in the track work that I've done in D1.? After saving in D2 as a env file, I then open the env file only so to not loose any updates I've made in Dillo2.? Dillo2 doesn't update the prj file so after the initial opening of the prj in Dillo2, there is no reason to open it again.? Just use the env file after that.

Rich, you can find the backflip proggy over at MDX in the utilities section.  It is also sometimes called a no crash hack, what it does is keep you on the bike no matter what.  So when you pull a backflip all the way over, you don't fall off.

... but are people still making mcm2 releases as they are all disabled at mcmfactory?

Yes, the remaining MCM2 community can be found at mdxracing.com.

MDX currently has 676 members, several thousand MCM2 tracks to download, many active MCM2 track creators still uploading new tracks and other new things including a Recorder and records database.

If you still have an interest in MCM2, come on by and take a look around.
