You can do it, you have to limit your PC to only using 2 GB of RAM (in the RUN console type msconfig, it's in the advanced boot options).  Install the game like that, you can use hardware acceleration then too.  Remember to run the game with admin rights also.

I tried doing that on mine but it didn't help any. I am using the d3rDm.dll or whatever it's called. My problem is that when I choose my graphics card on the startup screen it crashes, so I can't use my graphics card. My CPU isn't fast enough to render this game at above minimum graphics, so I have trouble seeing the details of the tracks. Any idea what could cause this? I'm currently restarting again with 2GB RAM because I can't remember whether or not I'd tried it with the DLL + 2GB RAM fix. I think once the DLL made it work I didn't bother restarting again. I do have the game installed to My Documents because that helps with  most old games losing their own saves.

Well, turns out running it with 1.5GB of RAM AND using the DLL result in me using my graphics card. Now my only problem is forcing on Anti-Aliasing in my card's options makes the cursor disappear lol. Anyways, thanks for reminding me of the RAM fix and making my MM2 look 1000x better!
