Title: Need help quick
Post by: AheadBMX_6 on August 11, 2004, 12:38:52 AM
Does anybody know if MCMNut or DirtTwister are still around? I need help on figuring out how to line up a spline from a SX track with a FMX track with the same disp. map. Heres the deal. I had to make my national a FMX track because of the perimeter tiles. Plus the textures will be cleaner. I can get the spline to show up by editing the tdf. file and it works perfect in the game but the spline is hard to get in the right place.

I made a SX version of the track with a resolution of 3.2 and strength 136.0 which are all bigger then stock. I made the spline and save it as a new project. Then I made a FMX with a new map. It is a 513x513 of course but with my national map pasted right in the middle of it. The settings on the FMX are the same as the SX. The stock resolution for a FMX is 4.0 though so it is actually smaller then stock. Everything rides perfect and is scaled fine. I then added the tdf. file for the spline to the FMX track and opened it up and bundled without saving. Everything's fine and dandy but the spline is way off. I threw together a little diagram to show whats going on. The FMX version seems to have seems that seperate it into 4 segments up and down. Each are 128.5 wide I'm pretty sure because that's 257/2=128.5.

The spline shows up up and to the left when I place it on the perimeter tile of the SX version like below. If I place it on the main tile it shows up on the perimeter tile of the FMX version.

I just have to figure out how to get the spline lined up and it will be sik 8)

BUMP

I tried Dillo2 but its just to much of a pain in the ass to do anything with the spline.

take you stunt map and resize it to 257x257.  then take that and set it at twice the grid res of your stunt in your nat.  spline it save it and load the spline into the stunt.  it should be perfect then

I don't think we have anything that will automatically adjust the spline offset for MCM 2.  I did something for MCM 1 but that doesn't work for MCM 2.  I never figured out the complete tdf format.  I would guess that Laurie has because he is editing the spline in Dillo 2.

The spline is in the correct place on your FMX track.   It needs to be moved (offset adjusted) to move it to the correct location.  It might also need to be scaled.

Why don't you just create a new spline?

Nah its a national using a 513 stunt map. I tried what crash said and it didn't work. Everything works good, the spline works in the game and the textures are really crisp because they are scaled down. Its just getting the spline moved over to match the stunt version.

DirtTwister, do you know how I could scaled the 257 version of the map to match the other version? I can create a new spline but it won't be lined up with the stunt version. In dillo2 there is a function that moves all three points of a spline. All I need is a function that would move the WHOLE spline so I could just make the spline in Dillo1 for the national version, then import it into dillo2 and manually offset the whole thing until it fits. That would be perfect. Is Laurie around? lol

You want the 24-bit, 8-bit, or the leveller version? Its a leveller map.

i dunno whats wrong with it.  i even tried making the grid res a solid 3.0 and 6.0.  You could make a spline in D2 buti dont have any experience  there

Hope its not too late but i just released a new ver (an old beta) of D2 which lets you move/rotate whole splines.

Hope it helps.
