Title: Round 1 british MX championships
Post by: DBR_Dodgy on March 14, 2005, 12:03:13 AM
well 20 mins away from me today was Round 1 of the british MX championships at Canada Heights,  was damn cold but there was some great raceing going down.
the MX2 class (125 2strk and 250 4strk) was headed up by stephen sword last years champ although he is only racing select races this year because he is doing the Dutch championships, we are super lucky to have mike brown here for the whole season as he is based here to do the world GP's.

anyway heres some shots i got from race 1.

billy Mackenzie leads mike brown in 2nd,  eric eggens 3rd and swordy in 4th on the 1st lap

i thought brown was keeping an eye on me lol   but he had good reason to keep looking over his shoulder..............  Nunn was coming!!

carl nunn came through the pack (on a KTM 125) and hounded brown's back wheel for a bit then pulled through to take the lead,
he was out front 90% of the race and then with 2 laps to go faded and brown past him to take the win ::) boooo hissss  lol

the second race nunn lead from the off with sword in close second but swordy pulled him in and took the lead pulling a good 15 seconds to take the win,
brown was 6th off the start and fell on the 3rd lap washing his front wheel out on an off camber right in front of us, then he pulled off after another 2 laps.

the MX1 class (250 2strk and 450 4strk)   1 race was lead all the way by Paul Cooper origianaly from south africa   didnt see the second race as my Girlfriend had already gone back to the car freezing so i avoided the traffic jams and headed off before the last race.

a few shots af Cooper in the 1st race.

and Jody smyth styleing the step downs

overall a great day.

Wow that track must be about an hour drive from where I live, I knew I recognised the name. I might have to check it out sometime, do you know of any events in the summer?

BTW, I'm a bit of a photographer myself, those are awesome pictures..

Ah thats pretty cool. Yea it looks like you got an eye for a decent picture, I might put one or two of my photo's up here sometime(not mx, just landscape, sorry!) lol

What would be kickass is if they do one of those day things, where you pay to learn to ride and get to ride for a day. Because I have always wanted to get into mx, just never had the time or money.
