I havent had MCM on my PC for some time now and I was wondering if I could load it back on this way.
I have XP pro loaded now with 2 hd's and 5 partitions one small one on non O/S drive for swap.
Can I still load MCM in a directory such as J:\MCM and get Dillo and all to work or does it HAVE to be C:\ ?
I havent bothered to try yet, I thought I would ask the guys that may have tried first.
im not sure but i think it should be fine, as long as its loaded direct to a drive and not programfiles/mirosoftgame/ blah blah
simple way to find out is load it if it works,,,, fine if it dont uninstal and rethink it.
Ian.
I can't speak for XP but i have a very similar setup under win2k and i have MCM2 on Drive F: and it works fine, Armadillo as well.
Laurie
It can be on any drive you want with no problems.
aloha, MC
I'm thinking of getting a new comp soon to take to college with me. If I get one with room for another HD can I stick the HD I have now straight in there and MCM work? Or do I have to re install and all that stuff?
you can have your old HD and just piggy back it. ive never done it i just pull the cover off the side of my pc and unplug the HD im using and plug the old one in if i need the grab some stuff.
but with the right cables (im guessing IDE) u can run two HD's.
Ian.
Thanks for the info guys, I'm going to load it up then this evening.
Sky, as long as the new system is XP the old drive will be fine no matter if it has XP or 98 loaded on it.
If the old drive has XP on it and you are making new system 98, then that wont work unless XP is Fat32.
