I just wanted to give a big thanks to you laurie for all your hard work on dillo too. I have always used it, but today was the first time I have ever used it to place objects. Being able to place bales and they automatically orient to the terrain is a life saver. the new rendering or whatever you did is nice too. It makes seeing the terrain a bit easier. The traction maps, MXU tex filters, EVERYTHING. This program is just plain awesome. Thanks again and if you have any more ideas for the prgram please feel free to drop a few teasers or hints. ;)
:-* Thanks Sky,
a new version will be out soon to fix some of the problems people have had with the new texture features, like pink edges and the Access violations with some TGA files.
There will also be point and click object selection so no more scrolling through the object list. :)
After that the only thing i have left to do before it reaches v1.0 (apart from bug fixes) is Disp map importing and i'm not sure when that will happen.

OMG POINT AND CLICK OBJECTS!!!! YES!!!! that will make everything sooooo much easier!!!!! SWEET
i will have to second the AWESOMEness of Laurie
Just curious... is there a problem with getting the disp map importing to work? Or is it just a lot of work? I cant wait til the day I no longer have to use dillo. :)
The problem is i don't fully understand the TRN file format. When i try with what i have now the bike ploughs into the ground and pops up again and keeps crashing - which tells me i don't have it worked out yet. I keep working on it, bit at a time, right now i'm trying different ideas on what i think D2 needs to calculate and comparing it with what Dillo creates. It's a long process trying to work out what each byte of the TRN file might be and how Rainbow might calculate it. I've got the height map bits but there are other values which are calculated from them and these are the problem.
I have a lot of the rest worked out already, else D2 wouldn't work, but those last few bytes are the hard part ..
Laurie
ah, ok. Just keep us informed on your progress. D2 is the greatest invention of the 21st century. ;)
I just placed 500 bales in about 10 minutes.
I'm just so glad I can finally use d2. It rocks. Laurie rocks. mcm rocks.
Can you make it possible to browse for objects? So that you can use sub folders in the usermodels folder?
for example /usermodels/bales or /usermodes/rocks just so we can keep things a little more organized.

now that would be a realy cool thing.
nothing worse than scrolling through a million objects to find one.
Ian.
You can make groups in the groups.ini?
Yes, you can, but that doesnt tidy up your user models foler at all.
Yea.. but does that matter.. you only get to see it when you move some new objects there...
TD guys can put a PayPal system on this site and a donation page somewhere, I will be in the donaters list !
Never, never, never mcm2 will be dead !
I will be dead before...
Thks TD guys...
Phil.
Good idea KX, i'll have to think about how i can include folder browsing. I could add support for sub-folders into the groups.ini or/and have a folder browse button in the object select window.
Laurie
Hmm gave it another tought, it is easier since you don't have to waste time editing the groups.ini that time :)
since we're on the subject of suggestions, I prefer the key board navigation like in armadillo. Is that possible too add to D2, and have an option for it or the joystick navigation. Same for object adjustments, I think they keyboard/mouse is an easier combo.
Another question, is there anyway we can see what each of the raw mxu track res patterns look like without bundling each one into a track? Maybe you could just post a collage of them all here?
Anything is possible but it just takes time. These are what i think of as details, i tend to focus on getting the bigger features done before i start with the details unless it's something really worth the effort. It would probrably take a lot of effort to add the keyboard controls in, i have been asked about it before and it is on my todo list but i'm not sure when i will get it done.
As for the MXU detail texs, just load a white flat track and you will see the raw patterns. But you can try each one on your track under the terrain tab.
