Title: MXU trees vs. MCM2
Post by: mk7bultaco on January 29, 2005, 08:09:40 AM
It seems like the big drawback of these new trees is that you can't "brush" past them.......even the outermost leafves knock you off.
The MCM2 trees let you pass through the leaves I think. Anybody else notice this????

I have not messed with the new trees, but can you change stuff about them, including the colision as with the mcm veggies?
Also, some of them look too neon, is there a way to retexture them?

Laurie has updated the est files to take care of that problem. Read this thread:
http://dirttwister.com/smf/index.php?topic=635.0

"I just noticed a small problem with the ESTs that were released. All the trees with Collision have it set to GEOMETRY, this means riders will crash into the leaves. I have updated the ESTs to include collision data so that only the tree trunks have collision. Please use the new link above to download the new EST files.

Copy them into your 'TrackEditor\EcoSystem' folder. Just copying the files isn't going to change the trees in your projects you need to use D2 to update the EcoSystem in your tracks. Go to the Eco System tab then select the new EST file in the EcoSystem drop down list and press the button (the tree with a yellow arrow next to it) on the right of the drop down list - D2 will ask if you're sure press 'Yes'.

Sorry for the inconvenience."

WOW.....great to hear that you had a fix already. I was afraid I was the only one annoyed by this collision issue.
Thanks so much Twisted Dirt........great job Laurie!

OK, now that I am over my initial excitement........I guess this new EST file will not help those tracks which have been released with the MXU trees placed using the old file????? The "geometry" collision trait will still exist......right?

Sorry but it sounds like it's time for an "SE" version (Special Edition).  Hey guys, we're still coming up to speed on all of this so there is bound to be mistakes the first time around.

Sorry, yeah Bultaco once the track is compiled with the Old ESts then that's it. They will have to be recompiled with the new ESTs for the new collision to take effect. Like Jeff said we are still working some of this stuff out, and i have a habit trying to do too much at once - which leads to mistakes. I was a little too eager to get this out to track creators in all the MXU excitement.

My apologies,
Laurie

I understand.....no problem Jeff, and no worries Laurie.
For the time being, I will just try to stay in the middle of the track!
Thanks for all your efforts.
