Title: Question about height scale popup when loading a height map in DE
Post by: Baja1000McCoy306x on October 30, 2015, 12:31:44 AM
I don't fully understand the height scale popup I get when I load a height map into DE; I know it adjusts the height, yes, but I feel like there is more to it because of the two options on the popup with the multiplier on the left side... Someone please explain this to me? I'm in a major roadblock at the moment with DE and its height maps (everything else works fine, including RGB masks and so on). Any help/explanation would be appreciated

Thanks,
Brendan

I forget what the 2 options are now, but I think one is "max white scale" ?  Well that is the height (in feet) that your heightmap will range from going from black to white.

The other option is just a legacy thing really.  We used to calculate height by taking the maximum possible height (which is 2048 feet), and dividing that by the number you input to get the final height.

That's all there is to it. :)
