Title: Will Custom Skins be Possible?
Post by: Kikzumbutt on December 14, 2004, 04:47:00 AM
I was really hoping we would be able to design custom skins for it.. If its possible that one of you computer wiz genius's could develop a way to import custom skins i would back u up and help in any way possible... If anyone has any ideas or anything related to that sort post your ideas here please

                                                     Thanks,       Kikz 128

At this moment "NO" but  very possible i think, I posted this Z archive thread releated to files and folders in MTX - http://dirttwister.com/smf/index.php?topic=462.0 inside you can find all the model, texture, collision files for bikes and models.

Yes we can replace items :) as from my initial tests filenames are only resident source wise, i.e we can rename other files to files and they will stilll load as no data inside the "files" look for paths/names etc.

Image format *.tex (check Z archive thread) maybe somebody can make a nice little image reader ? TEX2dds and vica versa, i doubt whether it will be too long but just depends on  peoples interest but int loks fairly open for us.

Ive uploaded a Tex,Col & Mesh file for a model here - http://www.3dactionplanet.com/reg/Mtx_Mototrax_Mesh_Tex_Col.rar mayeb any "tool developers" could look at these uncompressed files, Ive already spoken to oleg(zmodeller) about the mesh format and possible import/export but he has too much on his plate at the moment but im sure "Textures/Skinning" will be possible once this little Tex format is cracked.

Besides the MCM2 / MTX community ive been around at the GTA community alot, there are alot of coders, programmers etc. there, ill see if i can get some help from them... there are around 56 000 members and most of them are very helpfull so i think it can't be hard to get some help there... they've figured out ALOT on the gta series so...

aight thats cool... hopefully interest in the game will stay consistent and more people take interest in expanding customizing capabilities for the game... Thats why MCM 2 was so awesome its an old game but all the extras and more customizing features keep it up to date and fun...

I hope so man. Because as it stands right now this game is gonna get old fast. Having to play the same tracks over and over stinks. If you can't play custom tracks online this game will die fast.

Over at www.gtaforums.com no-one has replied to me yet, that's kinda weird cuz there's 56000+ members and there are about 350 online all the time  :o

Ill try to PM some coders/programmers who might want to help :)
