Title: NOT cheap racing games...
Post by: AMA_King on December 12, 2004, 03:45:45 PM
I just tried the DEMO for "FLATOUT" and it is SOOOO funny!

The high jump game mode has go over a jump and you launch / eject your driver from the car to hit the MEASURING WALL... it defies description!  You have to try this...  the DEMO is free - butt it is a $40 game...

Screenshots, movies, etc.

PS - check out the 360 degree screenshots!

==================================
I also tried the NFS Underground 2 DEMO and was so impressed that I bought the $40 game.

One racer who owns NFS Underground said there was "no big deal difference" between v. 1 and 2.
Since I never played version 1, I think v. 2 kicks butt!

I just finished Need For Speed Underground 2 and went back and played NFSU 1.  It's like a totally different game.  NFSU 2 is much better in handling and you can drive around between events.  While driving around you can get some 1 on 1 action that lets you win some extra hopup goodies.

Flatout is probably the best racing game I have ever seen, some of you guys here should get it and check out what it's got to offer, then try your hand at skinning, modding, etc.

Hey, Bunny, sorry for the delayed response RE: NFS-U2...

I finally got the full version of the game and it is FUN, but it takes time to do a career... so I find my self drag racing and "quick racing" more than playing the "career/story mode".  My kids buddy has it for PS2 and my kid liked it so much, he now has my PC copy, and I rarely play...  I've been sucked back into MCM due to the MXU tracks!

Try the free NFS-U2 DEMO to see if you will like it - I did!

DEMO HERE:

Bunny, it sounds like you have a full version of FLATOUT.
Care to share some comments or your car skins?

There are SO Many killer racing games I want to get my hands on...
Flatout and Xpand Rally are the top on my list...

BTW - here is a site with MODS for NFS-U2:

Here's an NFS-U2 Racers Gallery (not game review website pics):

Thanks for the great links King.  As of right now, I haven't made any skins yet, but THERE ARE SOME OUT THERE.  Just look around for links on the main website's forums www.flatoutgame.com  I think this game could possibly be the greatest pc racing game I'VE played.  Everey single track is fun to do over and over.  The crashes are AMAZING.  Although you cannot save replays, they are still very fun to watch.  Multiplayer is great, however you have to download a client to be able to play, no drawback though.  This game is very editable, even though there still is no way to import your own cars and tracks into the game.  There are regular races, destruction derby, extra tracks, such as a loop and figure 8 track, and the highjump and longjump stuff.  Hopefully I will be able to do a good job at skinning, if not, I'll just play the game.

Hope these comments helped anyone who is interested.

oh lol, i meant to ask that question to AMA_King, sorry for the confusion.  I suggest though that if you want to put your own music in the game, go over to www.flatoutgame.com and go to the forums.  Look around there for help on this, and you'll also need to unpack the .bfs files with bfsunpack.  You can find a link to it on the forums over there also.  If you need any frther help, just ask me some questions or post it over there.
