Title: HELP: Saving my track stops at saving fileset!
Post by: dannytjes on October 31, 2014, 10:23:21 AM
Hello,

I'm learning how to make a track and I'm watching the tutorials from AL167.
Now I have a problem, when I want to save my track as a beta track, it stops at saving fileset.
Yesterday it worked and didn't stop at saving fileset and today it doesn't.
I know it's saving the track under: (C)Program Files (86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/MX vs ATV Reflex/database and I have all that but it stops.

Please help me,

Danny

Yes I run it as admin, I even re-installed it as administrator.

You make awesome tracks btw!

Is the folder or any of the files already in there write protected? Do you have space left on your HD?

Try changing the slot that you are saving to (this value is near the bottom of the Scene tab) and saving again. Saving file sets is the last step and is just transferring the data to a file in the database folder, all the hard work has been done - so it is most likely a problem with the file system..

The folder is not write protected and I have 63GB free on my SSD (the (C) drive).
I changed the beta slot to every number and it's still not working.

If you can that would be great.
I uploaded the files to mediafire, this is the link: https://www.mediafire.com/?j736sdsvljz3zgm
Thanks for helping!

hmm, i'm running 32bit win7 not 64bit, but this is a simple track and it works fine for me  - compiles and saves to the Reflex database folder. This is what i see after the Saving track fileset message - do you not get any of that?

Is this a dummy directory, or is Steam (and Reflex) actually installed there?

MCM2Boys I dont get any of that.
Steam is not installed there with mx vs atv reflex just some empty maps JamieT, but it worked before so its really weird.
I could install steam there but my C drive is my ssd so if I dowload Advanced Warfare or some other game on it it will be full so fast and I don't want that.
Is there a way how I can change the save location?

I think the solution would be to copy all the files in the Reflex Database folder, and put them into your dummy location.  DE probably looks for files in the stock tracks, and uses some of the assets to create the custom ones.  I'm assuming that you probably can't see objects yet either?  In the editor they're on the left hand side in a big list.

To cut down on space, maybe the track files are the only ones that are needed.  These start with...
FMX_ ,  FR_ ,  NAT_ ,  PX_ ,  SX_ ,  TRX_ .

Hopefully that helps.

I had a problem with this to and for it helped to save the track as a compilertrack in another folder then were you first saved it. after you've saved it somewere else delete the old compilertrack files and open it up in digitalearthworks. then just compile it as a beta track. for me this worked but i don't know if it will for you.
